The Official Sweetbox Thread

With the release of their fantastic album 'Addicted' I decided since there seems to be alot of fans of Sweetbox out there in the forum I thought it'd be cool to have an officla discussion thread which we can all chat about what we like about Jade and Sweetbox as a whole without any bias, or any comments we don't have time for. Heh. Sorry if that sounds vicious I just thought I'd say that since Jade and Sweetbox seem to get alot of abuse and bad comments because of her Koda Kumi covers, and now her english versions of Ayu songs which imo are very good indeed!

I'm going to upload the PV for 'Here On My Own' a.k.a 'Lighter Shade of Blue' incase anyone hasn't seen it. I'll also upload the Here On My Own single which I bought on ebay. It has an instrumental which is hella cool!

So let's talk Sweetbox!

What's everyones favourite songs out there?

A few of mine are:

Lighter Shade of Blue (My all time favourite and the video is VERY sexy.)
After the lights
Stay (Okay so it's a cover of a song by british band, Shakespeare Sister but it rawks.)
Killing Me DJ
Break Down
Addicted
Everything's Gonna Be Allright (Reborn ver.)
For the Lonely
China Girl
Lacrimosa
Piano in the dark

I hope lots of people join in with the thread and have fun. <3

She copied Mariah Carey in Breakdown :(

Hey, could anyone upload ''everythings gonna be alright?'
I can never find it online :(
I love Sweetbox!
I love the new album, if I can find an OS version on Yesasia, I'll buy it :)
I'm also going to get the greatest hits album soon, when I order Ayu's new CDL dvd :D

miracleofsuzaku 10th March 2006 08:49 PM

Disclaimer to all the Sweetbox-haters out there: get out of this thread because it's pointless and immature to bash someone in a fan thread.
@pri0256: Are you looking for the PV or the song itself?

Neil 10th March 2006 08:51 PM

Just the MP3, if you have it :)

miracleofsuzaku 10th March 2006 09:03 PM

Greatest Hits would definitely be a good buy. You won't regret it.

Does anyone know why they chose the name 'sweetbox'?

m-a-z-e 11th March 2006 10:40 AM

I'm not to sure I think I saw it on an old Sweetbox fansite, I'll have a look see if I can still find the site!

I'm glad we've got Sweetbox fans here. <3 I've got to hunt my Sweetbox Here on my own single out of a box downstairs as seeing I'm only living temporarily with my parents everything of mine is boxed away as soon as I get it I'll rip it and upload a.s.a.p.

EDIT: Hm can't seem to find it. Jade says she writes her songs to be personal, honest and enjoyable maybe that has something to do with the 'Sweet' side. Correct me anyone if I'm wrong. ^^;

I love Sweetbox! HUGE fan! I have too many fave songs to name, but to name 5 would be:
Human Sacrifice,
Graceland,
Alright,
Don't Push Me,
Liberty.

At the moment i'm enjoying the 'Jade Silver Edition' album, the unplugged songs are wicked.

If anyone wants me to upload a few songs, just ask! I have almost every album with Jade (I don't have Best-of Korea, China or Taiwan, nor do I have 13 chapters).

The name 'Sweetbox' came before Jade joined, I think GEO came up with it, but maybe it was one of the singers in Sweetbox before Jade came?

Breakdown wasn't a bad song...at least it wasn't a complete copy, it had different tones etc.

ImpactBreaker 11th March 2006 04:38 PM

Well the covers of koda kumi sound horrible, that's a fact. Since it was the very first sweetbox material I was exposed to, that totally removed any interest on listening to any other songs of them. Then recently, with ayu's interest in SWEETBOX and GEo lending his compositions to ayumi, it actually made me interested in listening to other songs of them and I actually liked them.
As for the new album "addicted", I found it funny because allç the songs covered by ayumi sound crap in my opinion (i'd rather listen zillion times to "Unforgiven" than, let's say, Jade's horrid Bold & Delicious). However, funny enough all the other tracks all sound much much better and are far superior in my opinion. I really love "Breakdown", "Over and Over" and "Graceland" which is a good album opening.
I'm not particularly excited at how GEO composes by using collages of classical songs though...I think he should be more original and create his own orchestrated material (If you don't know what I'm talking about, listen to "Everything's gonna be alright")

m-a-z-e 11th March 2006 05:33 PM

One of the reasons I enjoy Sweetbox is because of the orchestral peices used in their songs especially Everything's Gonna Be Allright and Addicted, It's because I enjoy classical music and it's nice to see contemporary music added to some nice classic orchestral pieces.

miracleofsuzaku 11th March 2006 05:46 PM

I like the fact that they're blending in Classical pieces with contemporary style.
More than Love, though, is one of their best non-classical-inspired songs.

ImpactBreaker 11th March 2006 07:23 PM

I like the mixes of classical music and pop too, and that's one interesting thing about them, but I just wish he would create his own classical music though. I do actually love Everything's Gonna Be Alright, despite the fact I'm complaining about that though.
