Is this CD legit?
I was surfing through Ebay and I found Ayu's NOTHING FROM NOTHING single at a very cheap price, but I'm afraid it might be a bootleg. They say it isn't... What do you guys think?

I don't know, but the label of the real item is Nippon Columbia and the catalog # should be COCA-13057.

That one's released by 'HO-SON', it's a bootleg company.

edit: lol they used Nick's site... If you look at his site, it says: An important note: The first ever CD that has 'Ayumi' printed on it was the single called "Nothing From Nothing", issued in September 1995. It is now extremely rare and the cheapest one I've seen was about 15,000 yen |
I know, I love how he/she linked you to a site that told you 'there are several known bootlegs', then showned you a picture that was exactly the same as the one he/she was selling. XD

It's a re-release of the original 1 (3inch cds) back in 1995 by a taiwan record company.
When this re-release single is on sale, it's considered as legal as there's no copyright of japanese music in taiwan at that time so they can freely release any japan records. But now that there's copyright of japanese records in taiwan. These discs might be considered as bootlegs. Therefore you cant find it in any cd shops. Unless they do sell bootlegs.... |
on the aus site it says "To the best of my knowledge, this single has been re-issued later in the 'usual' size, but apparently withdrawn from sale almost immediately after some copyright issues" and the pics shown for that are the same design as this item
So i think it would be the re-release |
It was an unofficial re-release though (i.e. not condoned or released by avex). Ho-Son released it without their permission. It is technically a bootleg (hence the "copyright" issues of which nick speaks on that page).
