Dolby demonstrates TrueHD with "STEP you" and "is this LOVE?"

Excerpts:
Quote:

Dolby Laboratories, Inc. today demonstrated how surround sound completes the high-definition experience at HD2 EMOTION, an event in the exclusive Omotesando Hills retail center. The company exhibited Dolby(R) TrueHD, its newest technology geared toward new high-definition DVD players, for the first time to Japanese audiences.

The event, which is open to the public, features high-definition musical excerpts from Ayumi Hamasaki ("STEP You" and "Is This LOVE?"), Lee Ritenour ("Anthology Live"), Keith Jarrett ("Tokyo Solo 2002"), and the San Francisco Symphony (Stravinsky's Firebird). In addition, Dolby is showing animation features, including Warner Bros. Pictures' Brave Story and Production I.G.'s Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, 2nd Gig. Hollywood blockbuster clips include Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King as well as 2 Fast 2 Furious.

Nothing important, but I think it's cool they picked Ayu for their demos out of all the music choices. :D

That sounds really awesome :D Yay for Ayu! ^^

P.S.: Seems like this demonstration is going on until next week? Maybe I'll go by there sometime this week, then. :)

Ayumi was no doubt chosen due to her popularity & on-screen image, rather than the sound.

Sorry to say this but I don't consider any of the albums as having "HiFi" sound quality & production.

immel 21st May 2006 05:54 PM

^I'm no judge as I'm not an expert at that area, the music is done by professionals so I have nothing to say. I understand and sort of agree with what you are saying, though.

Axel_Grease 21st May 2006 06:19 PM

Nice that they chose Ayu. But Ayu's songs in HD surround sound, I think my ears might bleed. xD

truehappiness 21st May 2006 06:53 PM

.....omg I can't imagine hearing evolution on like max volume with HD surround sound. OH MY EARs. xD

And this is just to display her music... not the PV. :[ Since the TrueHD system is for improving surroundsound :[ I wanted the PV to be seen. xD

Hazuki 21st May 2006 08:11 PM

^ That would be GREAT to have Evolution like that XD

I'm happy Ayu was picked for this :D
You would hear all those infernal guitars in "is this LOVE?" xD

HanabiChick 21st May 2006 08:53 PM

Nice, I'd like to hear is this LOVE? in HQ :yes

Well, we know that if we feel any "sonic booms", we'll know what's going on. *cough* is this LOVE? *cough*
