[2006] kanariya PV question

There must be something symbolic here but I can found what.

one thing
I noticed is there are two sides of people, the whites & the blacks. Everytime the black-dressed people listening to the music, they always have the surprised evil-ish expression, while the white-dressed ones seems to be shocked like they got a heart attack.

Another thing is the numbers on their hands, what are they supposed to mean? And the black eyeshadow?

immel 28th June 2006 01:39 PM

I've only seen the PV once, I wondered a lot about what could be behind all of it but I never sat down to ponder about it, anyone got any theories, or does anyone know?

sora2522 28th June 2006 09:01 PM

the mascara marks resemble raven claw marks to me...

hmm, just rewatched the pv, and i must disagree w/ the black shirts and white shirts remark...i only saw one person with the evil grin on his face, everyone else seemed to be tortured, both black- and white-shirts...

but i suggest you read the lyrics. it'll probably explain more...dunno how, but it's worth a try...

ayu_ready? 29th June 2006 05:15 PM

^the lyrics will make ya confused more, darling

hiya, my fav parodist!
mmm, I always thought that these codes on the ppl...
mmm, do ya know what a cyberpunk? (I hope I named it correctly)
it's just a special style of games/movies, 'Matrix", for exmpl
ya know...Ayumi computerized,
special "Ayu-bot" lol
:P
guess it has a deal with that...like
"PPL UNDER CONTROL"
???
:D

Keishi 1st July 2006 09:57 AM

PPL under control? now that's scary >.<

so the music is brainwashing them?
And coming to a conclusion that ayu's the one brainwashing them because among those people, it's only Ayu who seems to enjoys the music?
And if we see...the rest has this tortured expression while few are enjoying it like ayu. Does that means only few people who enjoys ayu's music and the rest dislike it and tortured if they listen to ayu's songs? LOL

kirika 2nd July 2006 10:15 AM

Hahah, good point ;-) Those who doesn't like Ayu must be tortured X_x it reminds me one scene from Ladies Night pv, where Ayu was standing in front of thousands of brainwashed people and saying something ...

sora2522 2nd July 2006 10:23 AM

^ XD oh yea, that was freaky

to ck: only one person was enjoying the music (other than ayu), but i guess everyone else was like, being watched by the raven thingy (notice the eyes, looking all camera-ish-like...thingy...), and one wrong move and *ZZZZZZP!!!!*...or ayu may torture them for fun o.o;;

hey, that's a good point, darling!

Keishi 3rd July 2006 10:52 AM

LOL
Now I'm scared with the PV

kirika 3rd July 2006 09:39 PM

Yeah, me too XD
Did you notice that strange smile of black Ayu while she's touching the headphones? Almost evil :>

I dunno why she has sparkling things on her
just...
dark Ayu Vs precious dimaond bright Ayu?!
or what?
2 parts: Darkness & Light, are always connected

the concept of PV is kinda strange
Ayu says in the song

Quote:

I fear
my dreams waking up
My heart breaks
I'm afraid to go.
As long as I've
not gained anything
without giving
I'll always be
searching for a reason.
I can't clearly understand it
besides, there are smth about sorrow cuz

Quote:

it's not that canaries couldn't cry
and also this

Quote:

they just didn't wanted to
is connected to Ayumi's destiny
cuz as we know...she always writes, in every lyric
"I pretended to be strong"
so this line means she hides everything in herself, without showing emotions
...

the song about sorrow and hiding everything from others,
and the PV about ppl under control?
I think it shows 2 part of every human being
Ayumi is the image of this relationship between human inside-chaos and inside-going light from the heart
the music is just like a special thing
and looks like with the help of music, Ayumi tries to control these 2 parts of everybody else

:rolleyes
I know, ya will say:
"wtf expalanation! I don't get anything!"
:P

Ani_C 5th July 2006 04:56 PM

It's partially confusing because of the translation. It should be more like this: "As dreams are afraid of the awakening, my heart is afraid of breaking."

so, it has deeper meaning then I thought...
:shakehead
anyway...then it changes everything...
heart can be afraid of breaking only after the lost love

Was that the young, dark skinned girl?

Anyway, I'm sure the black hair-black outfit Ayu compared to the blonde-blue outfit-covered in jewels Ayu has some kind of meaning.
I myself never noticed the colors of the shirts that everyone was wearing.
Could it possibly have something to do with the high notes near the end of the song? (LOL)

(Semi-unrelated): Haha... sometimes I can actually hit those notes. It's really weird. ANYWAY.

JimmyKoria 9th July 2006 05:44 AM

One translation of the song leads me to believe the songs about people who don't express their pain and how someone has to notice them and help them. Another translation makes me believe the song is about people around her who decide not to speak up anymore, maybe because she's succeeded and she wants you to notice that they aren’t judging her. It may have to do with her believe she was just a one time thing.

The PV shows the people listening to the music so they could express and let out feelings. One side of the eye is painted black either to 1) show that we all have a dark side and a light side or 2) to show that sometimes our vision is blocked and we don't see the entirety of what's going on.

The use of varied races also enforces that these are things everyone faces. Her feelings aren’t just limited to the Japanese.
Most of the stuff in the PV is there for aesthetics. Something nice to look at.

Quote:

Like a dream
That fears waking up
My heart fears
Being broken
Never giving
Even one thing
And never gaining
Even one thing
I was always
Searching for the reason
She’s vague, but this translation is a bit more English friendly.

She might talking about receiving love/feelings and giving them as well but to me the whole thing feels like a giant stream of consciousness.

I think the overall song messages that you should not depend on help, ask for it, but only hope for it- and take the pain, whether help comes or not; but try to help others while you're able.
As for the pv, I think there's no big hidden message, but it's there. I'm terrible at explaining. I'll think about it and post what I have later. (If I do.)

I also agree with Jimmy's post. :yes

Keishi 9th July 2006 10:06 AM

Everyone has good points. But I like Jimmy's. Thanks :).
Now I can understand a bit of that PV. That one was my favorite though, but everytime I watch it I just got confused so I thought of asking here :).

I believe the song could also be related to the themes in too late & Trauma. Her wanting to give up singing. But it would be odd to have included it after she resolved such feelings so its meaning is probably the deepest Ayu-mistery. I can't interprate the PV.
I think, though, the black-haired Ayu may represent a crow and the be-jewelled blonde Ayu may represent a Canary.
