I'm sorry, but no matter how you put it that is a poor sales number for Ayumi. Its not the economy - SMAP's single is selling just fine. Also I remember reading somewhere that avex boasted this would sell as well as A BEST. I think this is a serious upset in Ayumi's sales - it should've hit 1 million at least, but its about half that.

Yes she hit #1, but figures are much more important then rankings - she was the only real competitor this week anyways.

But it hasn't even been out a week! It's only been out for 5 days. I say give it some more time.

it'd kinnda sad..but we should not blame AYU. She's done wonderful job.

This album won't sell well at all, no matter how much time it has. It's a stupid time to release it, and Avex should have known that there is NO WAY it would sell as well as A BEST. Avex is so smart, and they can't be that blind (or maybe they can, haha). Anyway, it's still beating the #2 spot out of the water by almost 400,000 copies. But it's not doing well as Avex would have wanted.

Hmm... it has been a week though, it was released last wednesday and its wednesday today - keep in mind Japan is ahead of us ^.~

I have NO idea why you guys are so upset over this sales figure, as in, NO ONE ELSE sells a few 100k in a week, it's just NOT THAT COMMON so it's still pretty impressive that Ayu can reach that target. Besides, shouldn't we be focusing more on her music and stuffs instead of something as secondary and unimportant as sales figures. Thirdly, it's a BEST album, A Best was diff cause it was her FIRST best album and had SIX covers which was a novelty at that time so obviously there was alot of hype over it, this very same hype is not existent in A Ballads, so it's quite unreasonable to expect similar sales figures. I have no idea why Ayu is supposed to hit a million within a week just because she has done it before, seems quite inhumane of us to expect this much from her :shrug

The album has dropped to ranking number 9.

It isn't just Ayumi that sells that well - there are many other popular artists that hit 500,000 in the first week.

Considering the bad timing and everything, I still think the sales aren't that bad. Bad sales would be not even breaking 100,000 copies. That would be bad. I don't see why everyone is so surprised A Ballads isn't selling as much as A Best. I'm not going to state all the controversial reasons again. There are plenty of other threads that state them all.

maybe it's just a coincidence... let's look forward for its later sales! :)
