Anyone tried out-of-the-box in-ear headphones?

Has anyone here tried any of these?

Shure e5c - $549
Westone ES2 - $650
Sensaphonics ProPhonic SOFT 2X-S - $750
Ultimate Ears UE-10 Pro - $900

If you have, are they seriously worth it? Some time ago I was considering buying the Shure e5c, but then other things got on my mind and I'm happy I didn't consider it enough to throw my money in that direction. I love music, I love sound, although I do not think I love it enough to spend this kind of money on it.

I'm a great fan of in-ear headphones, even if they are quite a lot more dangerous to your hearing than other.

Opinions?

nope, never tried them and i doubt i ever will. i seriously have to question whether any ear phone could be worth those prices. i mean, even the cheapest one would pay the rent on my apartment for a month!

Very true, like I said I'm happy I didn't have time to spend my money on something like it. I'm wondering though, because there are definately audiophiles somewhere out there who'd rather live in the street than listen on cheap headphones ;).

Those are insane prices for "good" headphones. I would probably never try those, since I've been able to find pretty nice/high quality headphones for $20 or so.

micster 29th September 2006 07:49 PM

Wtf?

I payed £1.99 for my uber earphones

immel 29th September 2006 07:58 PM

The more you upgrade yourself on headphones, the more you feel you never want to go back to something as "crappy" as what you had before... and for some people there is a time when you get to the level where you start considering if those are worth it or not.

I do not think they are, but there are people who do, and their opinion of it is most likely justified as it is quality stuff you are getting for the money (supposedly, according to the many reviews).

I'm using my $10 in-ears still, great sound :).

HannahMntnaFan89 30th September 2006 03:54 AM

And I thought $15 was enough for a good pair of headphones. :laugh

Risky Lotus 30th September 2006 03:56 AM

my $1 pair of headphones lasted longer than my $20 ones.
