Shiina Ringo returns

Yeah. This shocked me. Apparently, its official - new single in January, and new album in February - all from SOLO Ringo, no Tokyo Jihen stuff.

I know there was a Ringo thread..but I thought this deserved special attention, especially since some people that may not like Tokyo Jihen might not check that thread often.

Personally, I didn't think she could keep Tokyo Jihen going much longer - I see her as the kind of person that needs to control 100 percent of her music. She always said she'd never go back to her solo career, but I thought she'd change her mind after a while..

Hahaha, she probably got all PMS and fired everyone else in Tokyo Jihen. Good IMO, Tokyo Jihen sucks compared to her solo work.

All I can say is... I don't even know what to say.

"“Kono yo no kagiri” is the lead single from her new album which will be released on Wednesday, Feb. 21."

When I read that, my arm was shaking. New Shiina Ringo album? With a movie about the Yoshiwara pleasure district as its basis? Someone pinch me please, I think I'm dreaming.

Yay, solo Shiina!~ Comparing her solo stuff to Tokyo Jihen stuff, I prefer her solo stuff ^^!

Fantastic news, absolutely thrilled about it. =D

That was a real curveball, I wasn't expecting to see a solo Ringo work every again with all the success of Tokyo Jihen and how much she seemed to be happy with it. Wonderful piece of news, hopefully we'll see her incorporating the new styles she's tried with Tokyo Jihen and infusing it into her old solo styles.

Awesome to hear so.

Oh, wow. I liked Tokyo Jihen, but I've always loved Shiina Ringo's solo work. I'm really happy about this.

Hazuki 31st October 2006 06:58 PM

YAAAAAAAAAAAAY~ This is greaaat!!!

I was hoping she would come back to her solo stuff one day! :D

JimmyKoria 31st October 2006 08:18 PM

Ditto.

And I'll just say OMFG again; a term I don't like to use, just in special cases like this one. Lord, let's just forget about Kyoiku and Adult: more Ringo solo work is on the way! I'm quite curious though if it'll be in the vein of KZK or more like (later) TJ work.

I don't know what to expect from her now. It's so hard to follow up KZK. She ended her career with one of the best albums of all time and now she is back. No matter what I'm sure I'll enjoy her new works because it's 100% Shiina Ringo. The song (which has a sample on the toshiba website) sounds Jazzy (and it's also subbed, "Jazz Ver?" so there may possibly be a more 'rock-pop' sounding version).

I'm in shock right now. This is probably the most wonderful news concerning Japanese music that I've heard all year. I like TJ's Kyoiku, but Otona was crap compared to the work that Shiina used to do solo. I eagerly await the return of her mind-boggling PVs and awesome songs.

paper_doll 1st November 2006 12:47 AM

Thanks for the news!

Her solo stuff is a million times better than what Tokyo Jihen've done ~_~

ohsixthirty 1st November 2006 02:11 AM

wow, that was certainly out of left field! i thought we'd never hear shiina ringo on her own again! this is great news! :D

PSYCHEDELICOdust 1st November 2006 02:23 AM

Just cause it'll be bigger here.
