Arena Tour 2006 DVD5 or DVD9?

I find that Taiwan overseas version is DVD-5 (single layer), anyone knows whether Japan version is also DVD-5? or it is DVD-9 (dual-layer) (which is more high quality)? thanks a lot!!

Interesting, is that edition also on 3 DVDs?

My DVDs haven't arrived yet, so I can't check for you, sorry, hopefully on Monday.

Does anyone know?

Wait, you found a Overseas version of Arena Tour 2006?!

immel 11th November 2006 04:46 PM

The Taiwan edition was released at 11/09 or something. The overseas version that we see is the Chinese/HK one, I think, it's supposedly of higher quality than the Indonesian or Taiwanese ones.

hanabi2 11th November 2006 05:02 PM

yes, HK version has the same quality as Japan if it is DVD-9 (dual layer)

It's good someone else noticed it. I bought the dvd in Tokyo on 31/10 (1 day early), and I noticed it as well, that the all 3 dvds are only 4.3GB. (I noticed because I made an xvid-rip)
And I remember very well that the dvds from [~MY STORY~ Arena Tour 2005] were all 7GB.

So yeah, they are DVD5 in stead of DVD9. But still, I don't really see any loss of quality. So I guess it's okay. Single Layer might be cheaper to produce than Dual Layer.

Of the MY STORY DVDs only the first one was DVD9, with a 5.84Gb size.

Disc 2 and 3 was 4.16 and 4.12 respectively, I'm quite sure.

Thanks for the information about them all being DVD5 for AT06.

hanabi2 11th November 2006 05:22 PM

thank you for the information! For AT06 DVD, I think it is because the duration of the 2 main discs is small (disc1: 70 mins, disc2: 67 mins), that's why they use DVD-5

Hatix 11th November 2006 05:26 PM

I went to check it on the box itself, and compared it with some other dvds (the last 2 CDL's were both dual layer. which is logical because those were both just 1 dvd), and it does in fact state single layer for all three dvds.

And you're right about the MY STORY dvds, it says it on the boxes, only first dvd was dual layer.
And indeed, the first dvd does indeed have a longer runtime: 84min.
While the second dvd has 55min+11min runtime. The third being 65min.

i can't wait for the HK version (out on 14/11), so i bought the Taiwan version on 10/11, now i'm sure that all versions have the same high quality =)

Norrel 11th November 2006 07:53 PM

Er.. just in my interest, where can you get the Taiwan version?

hanabi2 12th November 2006 03:36 AM

I got it from a CD store in HK

darc_aqua 12th November 2006 03:49 AM

I think its kinda good this way cause if you buy the dvd in another country, you can copy it using DVD-5 so you wont have to shrink it. Plus the quality of the dvd this year is really high.

The majority of the time, Ayu has a single DVD with a ton of stuff on it [encore + live + some offshots] and it'll be DVD9.

But I guess they used DVD5 for AT06 since they wanted to do the whole 3DVD affair again.. :O

An interesting note: CDL05-06 is like 7.4GB D:!

HK Version will be released on 14/11, TW Version released on 10/11.
The Packing of HK Version is the most similar to Japanese Version.
So does the quality.

hanabi2 12th November 2006 08:41 AM

honestly, this time TW version is not bad, and i think it's the same quality as JP version too!
