'kiss o' kill' romaji and translation

I can't understand this songtitle. I know "o'" is often used as "of". But what is the meaning of "kiss of kill"? Someone explain please.

Kanashimanai de watashi wa itsu demo
Hitomi tojireba hora anata no soba ni iru

Kodoku wa itsumo riyuu o sagashita
Fuan wa itsumo hakeguchi o sagashita

Tsutaete tooku temo
Sakende chikaku temo

Tsuyogaru hodo ni yowasa ga mieru yo
Kiba o muku hodo itami ga mieru yo
Marude warau you ni namida o nagashite
Marude naku you ni warau anata da kara

Karada ga ikura samayotte ite mo
Kokoro wa itsumo kekkyoku yorisotte ru

Kikasete kore made o
Hanashite kore kara o

Arinomama de ii yo uketomete iku kara
Kowagaranai de ii yo wakatte iru kara
Marude warau you ni namida o nagashite
Marude naku you ni warau anata no koto

Don't be sad, if you close your eyes
You see? I'm always close to you

The lonely heart always sought for the reasons
The restless mind always sought for the outlets

Carry your thought to me, even if you are far
Shout to me, even if you are near

The more you pretend to be strong, I see your weakness
The more you bare your fangs, I see your pain
Because you shed tears as if you were laughing
And laugh as if you were crying

However much our bodies may wander
Our hearts always come close together in the end

Let me hear about your past
Tell me about your future

You can be yourself, I'll accept you
You don't have to be afraid, because I know you
Who shed tears as if you were laughing
And laugh as if you were crying

The more you pretend to be strong, I see your weakness
The more you bare your fangs, I see your pain
You can be yourself, I'll accept you
You don't have to be afraid, because I know you
We shed tears as if we were laughing
And laugh as if we were crying

I think it's not of but or. Kiss or kill. Either you kiss me right now, if not, kill me please. thanks for the translation.

HanabiChick 27th November 2006 06:26 PM

Thanks for the translation. I agree with nanami606, it's probably 'or'. The ' might be just one of Ayu's little symbols that she adds to song titles.

Thanks for the lyrics!

It might be Ayus Engrish playing a trick on us, and she really does mean "or" with her o', but officially o' is short for "of" or in some cases also "on".

In Irish it's also a prefix meaning "descendant".

Thank you very much for the lyrics Masa! :glomped

As for the title, I'm always thinking it's "Kiss or Kill"

masa 27th November 2006 07:13 PM

Thanks for your explanations.

Calico 27th November 2006 07:17 PM

I always saw it as "or" too.

Anyway, I love these lyrics! It makes me like the song a little more now.

Awesome lyrics. I have to wonder if she's singing to Tomoya or herself, though? It sounds weird thinking she's singing to herself, but it does kind of come across that way.

Go figure, this is one of the few songs I can actually understand lyrically. She's a confusing one.

This song title made no sense to me, either. Kiss or kill makes a little more sense. Anyway, it's a great song. Thanks for all your hard work, masa!

Weekness should be weakness. Bare should be bear (as in to bring forth or out), it's a pair of homophones. ;)

Thanks masa. Strange title but good lyrics. xD

Gosh I love these lyrics. This chorus is just so strong and the emphasis is made even greater by the pounding instrumental and the crescendo of Ayu's voice. Thank you for posting this, masa!

And oh, I think "kiss o kill" probably doubles as a meaning for "Kiss of Death" or something like that. A kiss that kills....hmm....

Yarumi 28th November 2006 05:56 AM

more good lyrics! I think Ayu has got some of her old inspiration back... This album really is a jewel

Well, weakness, yeah, but "bare" is correct - as in, to reveal. Bare your soul? Bare bones> Bare-ass naked? Bear is either... well, a big potentially deadly forest creature covered in fur or, well, to... deal with/carry ("I can't bear this, this is my cross to bear," blah blah... bare is a word and it fits here).
