Yay for Nelly, Madonna and Christina (though I do wish she'd have been nominated for album of the year).

My Humps and Stickwitu? ...

adpoyao 7th December 2006 08:28 PM

Imogen Heap actually made it to grammys this year? good for her!

bondingo 7th December 2006 08:52 PM

These are kind of sucky nominations, but this wasn't a wonderful year for music anyways. Confessions On A Dance Floor better win Best Electronica/Dance album and Justin Timberlake better not take home a single grammy!

Jayee19 7th December 2006 09:08 PM

If I have to suffer through a single acceptance speech by James Blunt, I'll kill myself. Words cannot describe how much I hate that motherf....uh, I mean lovely gentleman ^_^

I'll be rooting for Lupe Fiasco, Mary J., Christina, the Dixie Chicks and Gnarls Barkley!

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 7th December 2006 10:43 PM

I hate James Blunt and his stupid music, I hope he gets nothing. On a good note, I'm going for Justin and Madonna.

Beyond the Sea 7th December 2006 11:45 PM

What the deuce is up with Mary J. Washed up getting all these awards?

Coelacanth 8th December 2006 12:00 AM

Glad to see Gnarls Barkley, John Mayer, The Raconteurs, NIN, and Aguilera up there.

Never even heard of Corinne Bailey Rae. The nominees in the rap category are absolutely horrendous. Where is Talib Kweli?

And why encourage Justin Timberlake to make more music? :o

Corinne Bailey Rae is that African-American woman who has the song "Girl put your record onnnn play my favorite soonnngg"~

It's really catchy and she's a really good artist :] Reminds me of Alicia Keys..

Mary J. Blige is washed-up? Huh. I must've missed that part. Be Without You was a pretty big hit, and while her following singles only really made a huge splash on the R&B charts, she's still a very important figure in music, and The Breakthrough sold incredibly well and had awesome opening numbers. I... don't get how she's washed-up.

Anyway! Here's to Mary, Carrie, and the Dixie Chicks each nabbing some well-deserved awards. The Contemporary R&B Album line-up is freaking SAD, though. Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Kelis (people remembered she put out an album?), and Janet Jackson (who didn't put out anything great. Beyoncé wasn't bad, but... meh. She'll win anyway).

Best Female Pop Vocal Performance has me sad and mixed-up because aside from Christina (who will win), I want all of them (Pink, Sheryl, Natasha, and KT) to win. All songs (that I heard - so all the songs except Sheryl's) were great, and I love all four of them.

Mad_Cactuar 8th December 2006 08:00 AM

It's kind of unfair that Nelly Furtado has like one song there, when all her recordings were excellent and her album was solid compared to Justin Timberlake's effort. Seems like those who get high sales and big publicity gets more nominations.

I hope Corinne Bailey Rae wins, she's been amazing, except Put Your Records On has yet to crack the Top 50 in Billboard.

Only 1 nomination for Hips Don't Lie? That's like one of the biggest hits of the world, and it gets a single nomination?

I'm sure like every year, none of those I root for will get nominated, let alone win. Gosh I hate the Grammy's. And yeah, I hate James Blunt like most of you. His voice is one of the worst I have ever heard, especially during the chorus of You're Beautiful. Be Without You was a hit, but what's the big deal about it anyway. It's so average.

Probably the only good thing I saw was Goldfrapp getting nominated, although I highly doubt that they will win despite their worthiness.

explodingbird 8th December 2006 08:22 AM

Thasnk god, I guess, that I haven't heard the James Blunt song yet. And yeah, the thing with Hips Don't Lie is very very odd, Loose definitely should be up there. I'm glad india.arie got a few nominations, though. I know she won't win any of them, but I Am Not My Hair is definitely a great song, and Testimony is an incredible album. Girl's long overdue for a win, especially after getting screwed over many years ago when she debuted.

I thought Be Without You was a really, really great song - definitely better than We Belong Together, even if it kind of built upon its foundations. Mary's got a great voice, very emotional, the song has sweet lyrics, and the music is very atmospheric - wintry, catchy, and beautiful. Love Mariah, but she still focuses more on sounding pretty than getting to the heart of the song.

I agree, I loved that song, was an interesting collaboration. the album also had a summery and pleasant vibe.

I never realised that until you said it. Damn, that's so accurate, how did you come to realize it I don't know.

Yay! MJB and JT!!!!!!

I was so happy to hear that Mary J. Blige and Justin Timberlake were nominated multiple times. I know that they will at least take home two grammys and tha's a fact. They both came out amazing and can't get enough of albums. So, I know those two won't be disappointed. I am sort of happy and surprised that The Red Hot Chill Peppers got nominated. I was not at all excited about Dani California because I think it was huge disappointing single but at least they came back with a bang.:D

Here's for Mary J. winning 5 and leaving the remaining 3 for India.Arie. :) I wish Madonna, Goldfrapp, Nelly Furtado, KT Tunstall, Kelis, Missy & Keane could have a great night as well.

I agree with the exception of Beyonce. She better win, because B'Day was a pretty good album.

And I just realized that P!nk was nominated for Stupid Girls. I hope she wins, but "I'm Not Dead" really should have been up for something. That was, without a doubt, one of the year's best albums.

I don't think Mary J. Blige is washed up either. The Breakthrough was HUGE for her this year

And Be Without You was like never-ending LOL

What's with all the Justin hater-ness? I hope he wins something. Future Sex/Love Sounds is hot!

I was surprised to see my humps there o.o And why wasn't Loose nominated for pop album? OMG
