Ayu #2 in the United World Chart

United World Chart:

#1 The Beatles - Love
Apple - 436.000 - 2 weeks at No.1

#2 Secret - Ayumi Hamasaki
Avex Japan - 386.000 - Hot Shot Debut

#3 Il Divo - Siempre
Columbia - 339.000 - Largest Sales Increase

Also want to mention that The Beatles' first week sales (700,000+) were less than Koda Kumi's "BEST ~ss~" (900,000+)!

Those sales are exclusively from Japan. If they had did their job as the World Chart, then they would have included the sales in Taiwan, USA (online orders), etc. it would have passed the 400k mark. But i'm pleased that, with Japan's sales alone, she's on the top 3, while the other albums are there with worldwide sales included. Good job, AYu!

That's because The Beatles are nothing now and that album had zero promotion. If they were still in there prime there first week global sales would be like 10 million.

Wow. #2? I didn't think she'd get that high! And i wouldn't expect even Ayu to beat the Beatles. :laugh

JaysenRyan 8th December 2006 12:04 AM

No kidding. Beatles are right up there with Elvis and Madonna worldwide. I wish ayu was an international artist, but never gonna happen.

Ayu is at number 2 yay!

At least this time she is topped by a real band and not someone stupid like Crazy Frog or whatever the hell...

Chibi_Venus 8th December 2006 02:20 AM

Her popularity is definetly back! :) If this doesn't make her happy... well, then, shewt! This girl's spoiled! :laugh

kaue_ 8th December 2006 03:01 AM

Last year she got number 1, this year she got number 2, after The Beatles, so you can say it's as good as number 1! I don't get why people keep complaining about Ayu's so called declining popularity! I'll shut up now...

Thanks for the news ;)

As well, Japan is known for its' huge crazy 1st week album sales. The largest 1st week sales in the US is ~2m by NSYNC. In Japan, A BEST and Distance both managed to beat that number even with the smaller industry.
