How Do You Protect Ayu Stuff?

Hey...Just a question I have in my mind for a long time but I'm to shy to ask out but now I just wanted to ask eveyone here...So I have almost all Ayu's albums, and some Live DVD....so yeah, should I make a copy of all of that stuff and keep the original inside the plastic forever, or just use the original whenever I need....Which one do you think is better?

Kodayumi 21st December 2006 04:55 AM

Using the original, if you dont, why buy it for? Just for the cover?

For protecting it, try keeping it in a CD box, and clean it using a moist cloth every 2 weeks or so. Remember to dry it before you place it back inside the box.

Smart Computer 21st December 2006 06:03 AM

I did that sometime to all of my Ayu's stuff.....but like if I used the original one, I'm afraid they will get scratch and stuff....but I dun want that happen.

Kodayumi 21st December 2006 06:32 AM

Just be extremely careful when handling CDs.

Dont touch, the sensitive part of the CD, hold it using the correct way.

And dont put it anywhere.

After listening ro watching, put back into the original cover.

This should do.

Mad_Cactuar 21st December 2006 06:37 AM

I don't see the reason of buying it, copying it, and keeping it on the altar. Unless of course you're an obsessive collector. Just use your original copies, except be careful like Kodayumi said. Her stuff aren't cheap, so I'm sure you realize the value of them all and take utmost care.

Don't touch the surface of the CD, always put them back in the cover, don't leave them lying around, handle the booklet carefully, don't remove the booklet and leave it around, etc.

A scratch isn't the end of the world too, light to medium scratches won't even affect the CD at all, it's the deep and very visible ones that are dangerous. Just be careful.

Kogepan_19 21st December 2006 06:52 AM

Well..this sounds kind of stupid but...what is the correct way to handle a CD? xD

I've noticed some dust particles on my CD's before, so then I blew air to clear the small dust but then they were still there. Is blowing on the surface of the CD a stupid maneuver..or is it actually okay?

Delirium-Zer0 21st December 2006 07:05 AM

It's okay, just if any little drops of spit get on there, be sure to wipe it off. And the correct way to handle a CD is simply to handle it on the edges rather than with a finger on either side.

I think you SHOULD rip them as mp3s, personally, and then keep them in the plastic. It's not impractical to have bought them; hard drives crash, CD-Rs get lost, data can go away eventually and it's good to have hard copies (which is to say, store-bought copies of the albums) so that you can recover your lost data easily. Wear-and-tear is gonna happen; through regular use, my LOVEppears album got HORRIBLY scratched, and I had to use Clear Plastic Restoration stuff for BOATS to fix it. Seriously. I held it properly, put it in the case, and it still got messed up. So I'd rip the mp3s if I were you. Even aside from scratching, the sides of the CDs do show noticeable... hmmm, i guess denting? Just from regular handling. After a few years, it's easy to see which cds are used most often by the edges of the disc.

And a "damp" cloth, mentioned above, means just that; ONLY water, no chemicals, and make sure it's not really very wet. Also do make sure it's dry before doing anything with it.

Thanks for advice :) . What exactly do you mean by a "damp" cloth though, but making sure it's dry? How wet do you mean?

Delirium-Zer0 21st December 2006 05:21 PM

Just barely wet. It shouldn't be dripping at all. Wring it out as much as you possibly can before wiping the cd with it. You'll know it's the right amount of wet when you wipe the CD with it, and it leaves a trail of water on there, but it evaporates almost immediately.

Oh cool. I never knew that you could do that with CDs. I always thought you had to treat them like electronics, and never mix them with water. I'll try it out when I have time, hopefully I don't use too much water and wreck my CDs :yes .

you know I never thought about actually protecting my Ayu stuff. It's not really in my nature since I'm such a slackard. I thought I could do that with my (miss)understood album; but the CD ended up in my CURRENT-USING pile of CDs and I can't even find the photobooklets.

LacusClyne 22nd December 2006 02:40 PM

and if you want to bring that cd out to play on the car/party or event. i'll recommend you to burnthem out, then keep the original at home. you won't be able to know what might happent o the disc when you are not looking.

listen to the original at home, where they are safe within your eyes.

Smart Computer 22nd December 2006 07:47 PM

I know....I alway bring copy of Ayu's stuff to other house because most of Ayu's DVD is region 2 or 3 coding, and my friends, cousin's house only have region 1 DVD player....Hehehehe! Anyway, thanks for the info!

slowmoth 27th December 2006 03:42 AM

I don't protect it, that's because my H limited edition CD package is dying D:

HybridTheory 31st December 2006 02:48 PM

Be a little more careful with DVDs they will degrade faster then CDs, but otherwise you would be pretty surpsised at how much abuse a CD can take. Obviously if your really careless with them they will get scratched up, but even with alot of use, simply storing them away properly will ensure they stay in good condition.

Hazuki 31st December 2006 05:16 PM

If I have those CD's that I want to keep and not damage, I rip them onto my computer/iPod. That way I can always listen to the songs. (:

LacusClyne 1st January 2007 04:11 AM

^there's still a chance that your ipod might run out of space,.....

alternarist 1st January 2007 05:32 AM
