Chihiro Onitsuka returns

To all the people that are fans of hers - me included, I am SOOO excited. Thought this deserved a special thread, since people might not check her official thread

Singer-songwriter Onitsuka Chihiro (26) is coming back after an absence of more than two years. She plans to release a new single at the beginning of summer, to be followed up by her first original album with Universal Music. Her 11th single, and to date her only release with the label, was in October 2004. She has been on hiatus since failing to renew her management contract with Sony Music Artists the following January. She was the victim of a stalker in July of 2005. It wasn't until a magazine article in September 2006 that she gave any indication that she was still writing songs. Her latest recording is being produced by the renowned Kobayashi Takeshi (47), best known for his work with Mr. Children and married to My Little Lover vocalist Akko. February 21, 2007

Aww, I didn't know she had stalker-issues (some people are crazy -_-; ). I thought she was only on hiatus because of throat surgery or something... A new single from her would make my day.

Quoting:
Employing a mix of folk rock and heartfelt ballads in her guitar and vocal driven delivery, Chihiro Onitsuka fits into the singer/songwriter category of artist. Growing up on the island of Kyushu, south of Japan's main island Honshu, Onitsuka was raised listening to pure American pop like The Carpenters and Carole King. Influenced in high school by the American artist Jewel, with whom she shares several stylistic tendencies, she began writing and performing her own music at that time. After graduating from high school in 1999, Onitsuka moved to Tokyo to purse her career as a singer and songwriter. She debuted in the year 2000 with the single Shine, but didn't really gain renown until releasing her second single, Gekkou ("Moonlight"), which was chosen to be the theme song of a Japanese television drama.
