[article] Europe turns to Mucc

Excerpt:
Quote:

Several hours before Japanese visual-kei band Mucc had even kicked off their European tour in London, a group of fans dressed in Goth clothing and heavy makeup had already gathered outside the venue's entrance waiting to catch a glimpse of the four-man band. Mucc's eclectic mix of rock, metal and folk, combined with their distinctive image, has fed into the growing interest in Japanese popular culture. This, the band's third European tour, has already sold out. In fact, tickets for their gig in Finland were snapped up in just three hours.

Talking before their London debut, Mucc's guitarist, Miya, said in an interview that the band were "very happy" to be playing in London. Tatsuro, the band's longhaired lead vocalist, offered more in the way of explanation: "The English music scene has a very strong reputation and it is very difficult for foreign bands to penetrate the market. So, in a way, we are feeling rather intimidated, but at the same time we are very, very excited about this London gig."

MUCC is a great band!

I'm surprised that the tickets were gone after 3 hours in Finland. I had no idea that they were that popular over there.

No wonder all the Jrock/VK bands seem to go to Europe :(

I know people on another a forum that went to the London gig and said it was absolutely fantastic. I'm not really a fan of MUCC for the simple fact i've never really listened to them, but if they can make progress like that in a foreign market then they really deserve respect.
