[article] Rain's LA Concert Goes Bust

Excerpt:
Quote:

Pop star Rain shed tears after his concert in Los Angeles was abruptly canceled just hours before the scheduled performance due to the local promoter's lack of preparation and financial problems, according to reports yesterday.

The American leg of the popular singer's ``Rain's Coming'' world tour has flopped altogether, as Los Angeles was the only remaining concert after his four other scheduled performances including New York and Atlanta were indefinitely postponed earlier this month, following a lawsuit over the copyright of the name ``Rain.'' The lawsuit was settled only late last month when a Nevada court dismissed the case against the Rain Corporation, a Nevada-based music company that sued over the rights.

Officials at Rain's Seoul-based concert management company, Star M, attributed the cancellation of the Los Angeles concert to the L.A.-based promoter that did not pay subcontractors money owed to them on time. As the companies withdrew, the stage was left bare without lighting or screens, according to Star M.

Aww... I feel bad for Rain. I know he really wanted to perform in America. Hopefully, he'll still release an album over here.

AyuGAME 3rd July 2007 02:54 PM

how can america people being so unprofessional like that...
i believe there will be so many dissapointed fans
thanks for the news

marty518 3rd July 2007 03:05 PM

Wow, I'd be SO disappointed if that happened!
He SHOULD shed tears. I know it's not his fault, but people are going to be quite apprehensive before buying his U.S. tickets again.

I wonder if his other dates were postponed because of low ticket sales?
He shouldn't aim for such huge American venues yet.

sora-kara 3rd July 2007 04:38 PM

oh jeeze thats terrible!
poor guy! he works really hard and gets screwed over like that!

i wonder how his toronto show will go then....o_O
i wanted to go to that.....

i still do hope he decides to put out a north american album though.
itd be nice for one, and itd probably get him more attention and more ticket sales.

sexysaucestar 3rd July 2007 06:36 PM

Wow, that's sad and upsetting :( Even though I'm not a Rain fan, I can feel his fans' pain over this...and I especially feel said for Rain!! :weep I hope things will be figured out in the future so he can have a more successful and stable tour.

AyumiSEASONS 3rd July 2007 07:49 PM

That's america for you...Greedy idiots that only want their money. Rain has been using it as a stagename IN KOREA, so how the hell was he supposed to know if it was an american company? Jeez. I should send hate letters to the company. :D

Peger 4th July 2007 12:10 AM

Guess his American career is over before it started.

Huaka 4th July 2007 12:41 AM

I heard it was the fault of Rain itself, not the American contracters. Either way, he should just stop trying and go back to Korea.

Coelacanth 4th July 2007 12:50 AM

Kind of like P.Diddy, Puffy, Diddy, Daddy whatever the **** his name is trying to make PUFFY change their name, thus Puffy AmiYumi.

Real iggnint if you ask me.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 4th July 2007 01:22 AM

As expected of America, lol... I would be so pissed off if I were him.

sugarbasil 4th July 2007 03:53 AM

That's...really crappy. And I was hoping to go to one of his concerts one of these years. I really hope he tries again. :(

ohsixthirty 4th July 2007 04:36 AM

thats ridiculous. i'm not even a fan of his, but i feel really bad for him. i mean, come on, a company sued him over the name Rain? thats freaking unbelievable! its not like the INVENTED the word. ugh. i get so frustrated at people like that.

:(

mininamie 4th July 2007 05:49 AM

How terrible! I'm not a fan of Rain but I am quite disappointed with the cancellation of his concert. I was hoping Rain would make a pathway for other asian artists. He actually has the talent to be some what successful here. Oh well~~~~~...

qwerty 4th July 2007 06:33 AM

I'm sad to see Rain's American tour not go well. Hopefully, his next tour will turn out much better.

It's pretty stupid how a corporation tried to sue him over using the word. Makes me want to :rolleyes.

That's exactly what I was thinking...wasn't he supposed to perform at Madison Square Garden in NYC? It's like...dude...hold your horses. Though I do feel bad for him. That sucks a lot.

bondingo 4th July 2007 09:40 PM

That really angers me that he would be sued over his stage name. C'mon, he isn't even an American singer, so they obviously sued merely to profit from the situation. Why am I not surprised there are such greedy Americans?

He performed 2 shows at the Garden last year, both of which I believe were sold out. It was wild, I was there! He's definitely capable of filling venues, especially on the West Coast where there is a greater Asian population.

I feel so badly for him, though, this is really, really humiliating. Thankfully most of the people who were planning on going were probably pre-existing fans (as he hasn't release anything in America, nor done a speakable amount of promotion), so this wasn't their first impression of him. This would have been a career-busting disaster if the tour was to promote an American release.

I was in Korea Town in NY recently and entire streets were literally PLASTERED with promo posters for this tour. So disappointing. :(

Rurutia 5th July 2007 06:28 AM

my gosh thats so horrible, arghhh greedy americans, these days its all about sueing people in america, sue here , sue there, its so disgusting.....arg it makes me so angry , i feel bad for him......and his fans

Kodayumi 5th July 2007 11:50 AM
