Secret album bad quality?

I've got the 320 kbps mp3 rip of the album as well as a FLAC version and both sound great music wise but Ayu's voice sounds like a bad radio rip on both and so far it's been that way on every instance of the album I've encountered.
Any idea why it may be that way? Badly recorded in the studio? :yconfused

it's fine on my CD :shrug

ayumisrael 7th September 2007 01:49 PM

It's really fine on my cd too...

Maybe when you rip it on your computer it goes wrong for some reason, or maybe your CD have a problem or something =\

I would kill avex if after I ripped it to my comp it would sound like a radio rip.

Maybe your speakers / sound card are bad? Cos my CD sounds awesome.

but what about the song "Secret" itself? I also noticed her voice sounds like muffled in there. Compare it to Beautiful Fighters or momentum, her voice is much more clear there. The music in Secret is fine but her vocal is muffled/unclear.

I really haven't noticed anything weird with my "Secret" album. It sounds as regular as all the other ones, no complains here.Your speakers are prolly to blame.

Exactly, I was wondering about this. The vocals sound kinda as if they were 'put in the back', instead of 'in front' of the music.

On my CD ayu's voice is great... And my rip album on the PC is great too... I don't notice differences from the original cd and the rip on the computer..

I think the vocals on the song 'Secret' were meant to have a more raw, personal feel, thus it doesn't sound extremely polished/overproduced.

I agree. I always thought it was a tad bit muffled on purpose.

truehappiness 9th September 2007 10:50 PM

The vocals on Secret never really got a chance to be "produced".. :p

As opposed to momentum which took her days to record, Secret only took one take. D:

PrincessAyu 10th September 2007 01:25 AM

oh, that makes sense.

XD and to the people saying "it sounds fine here", well upload a sample and we'll see. I highly doubt it's my speakers, seeing truehappiness' reply.

It's a shame though, cos Secret is such a nice song :(

alt.total-loser 10th September 2007 04:58 AM

My CD sounds fine. When I ripped it last month on one of the computers, the rips sounded nice, too.

I don't remember her voice sounding 'muffled' exactly on the Secret track, though... Just shaky or something. Which is fine.

truehappiness 10th September 2007 05:06 AM

It definitely doesn't sound as polished as the other tracks on the album though, you know?

Kodayumi 10th September 2007 05:10 AM

My CD is fine, and my rip. Nothing wrong.

I very much know, Drool. But it isn't really... 'muffled'. D:

truehappiness 10th September 2007 05:18 AM

Yeah, muffled-ness is probably more of a speaker issue if anything at all.. D:

PrincessAyu 10th September 2007 10:08 AM

.. muffled is just my wrong choice of words. Unpolished would be better. There's nothing wrong with my speakers; everything else sounds crystal clear.

LacusClyne 12th September 2007 06:51 AM

i remembered reading somewhere that ayu wants 'Secret' to be recorded in a take, so it won't seem over polished, thus it would be clean and pure.
