I am... GUILTY connection?

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...c_123/Iam3.png http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...84915_0_01.jpg

this is probably a long shot and just me being bored, but i was wondering if anyone else thought maybe there was a connection between I am... and GUILTY? it just popped into my head when i realzed that both album covers are shot in the desert.

on the I am... cover ayu comes off as being very pure and innocent, sort of like mother nature or some sort of goddess of peace, the sun is behind her...whereas on GUILTY it seems like the roles are flipped and she looks lost with the sun in her eyes, kind of like an animal in her leopard print dress.

also, I am... as an album dealt mainly with peace, hope, and love on a global level if i remember correctly. it was an overall upbeat positive album for ayumi. GUILTY though again seems like the opposite of that, being an album about personal loss and pain and overall very dark.

what do you think? i love speculation like this. :yes

I really think the opposite of I am... would be Ayu's best album yet.

ComatoseBunnySnatcher 18th December 2007 08:21 PM

I don't think there's a connecvtion at all.
Sure, the covers look similar, but apart from that, none of the themes seem to
be similar ( with the exception of unite!'s which was love).

they don't have to be the same theme. i'm saying more that its like a part 1 and part 2 deal.

ComatoseBunnySnatcher 18th December 2007 08:27 PM

no.
I've always thought of RAINBOW being the continued I am...

everlastingRAINBOW 18th December 2007 08:33 PM

The covers aren't even similar >.<! They both take place outside that's about it.

I feel like people are failing to look at this in a metaphorical sense :\

What you're saying makes sense, even though it may be quite a longshot. I'm not sure if Ayu has specifically intended exactly what you say, but it very well may be true. I am...'s cover was very empowering and strong, while GUILTY's is slightly more vulnerable (even though the CD+DVD one is more powerful; as someone said "I'm GUILTY, for being SEXY!").

So, you only agree to whomever agrees with you and sees your opinion.

how un-biased!

:yes I agree XD!

I don't see any resemblance. I guess the only way I would consider it was if "I am..."'s cover and photoshoot was the idea she originally wanted for the album. When 9/11 happened she changed her mind and put the dove there and made it earthy and a symbol of peace. I mean, we could easily say she wanted "i am...RAINBOW/(miss)understood/blablabla" to be part 2.

seriously? this is a thread on ahs, i don't mind if people agree or disagree. i just felt like bondingo put some thought into it and understood what i was trying to say.

:shrug

Another thing, you're not solely basing the 'similarity' or part 1/part 2 on the album covers. People need to read through the whole post first before jumping in with their two cents.

As for what I think--I always thought Ayu was kind of depressed when she made the "I am..." album though....so maybe I don't see the connection in that way? :shrug It's interesting though, will have to ask Killtime111 what he thinks. :yes

^haha. maybe i should have also mentioned that i thought of this last night as i was about to fall asleep.

.llama 18th December 2007 09:22 PM

I thought of this earlier too. Something about the album just feels like a continuation of I am... or maybe a mix between I am and Duty. I don't think the cover is similar or anything, but something about it just gives off a sense of maturity and change since then. Like uh.. more experienced. I am is calm, while Guilty seems bolder.

You have interesting thoughts when you drift off to sleep, haha.

Now I'm going to be thinking about this a lot more. o_O; I like Yvette's explanation; it adds more fuel to your discussion, Brian.

ohsixthirty 18th December 2007 09:26 PM

i paid yvette off to agree with me. i'm sneaky like that.

2 llamas for every post she makes that backs me up.

.llama 18th December 2007 09:34 PM

I'm going to have me a llama farm pretty soon :yes

And in Ayu's honor, they will walk around in leopard print dresses :cool

kinomaniac 18th December 2007 09:34 PM

I totally see the similarities between the two albums. Even the titles can be connected: I am... GUILTY *points to thread title*

I don't think Ayu was depressed back when I am... came out! Most of the songs titles sound happy. GUILTY on the other hand...

I just hope they are musically connected too. I am... was such a great CD.
