Is Ayu's voice even "nasal" anymore?
 

As seen in that Ayu Facebook hate thread, people describe Ayu's voice as "nasal" and I was wondering... is Ayu's voice even nasal at all anymore?

Is her voice less nasal these days or is it because I've listened to her music so much? What do you guys think?

Personally, I think it lacks that quality nowadays.

Before she used to TRY to hit those "high notes" and sounded quite nasal during performances... however she seems to not reach so high and stays within a vocal range that doesn't produce such an awkward sound when she sings.

However, when she talks, she has a bit of a nasal... THING going on. I'm not sure why that it, but it seems like she's talked like that since before she was a QUEEN~*~*. So yeah. XD

ayu's singing voice isn't nasal since I am.../RAINBOW era.

I don't think it's nasal anymore. Especially after I am.../RAINBOW era. But she sounds really cute in Duty and before when she sounds a bit nasal. But I've listened to Ayu's music so much it doesn't even bother me anymore. I'm fine with it and I like her voice nowadays, because it has more feeling on it. She knows how to use her voice. <3 Ayu's voice has gotten better every year I think. :3

And her talking voice is cute, I love it. <3 It makes her somehow so sweet. :3

Um... Yes. Nasal does't have to be high necessarily, and though she clearly has learned to control her "nasalness" she still kinda sings a bit "through her nose" at times. Not a bad thing, it's what makes her voice differ from other popular singers. :J

I think in some recent(sorta) songs she is still nasal, though not as the old days

I'm talking about songs like HONEY, or Beautiful Fighters
(specially that english line I listen to the MUSIC! x_x, that sound pretty nasal)

It's still sometimes nasal, it has nothing to do with sounding high pitched.

i'm satisfied with her singing style right now...i don't think she sings nasally anymore...

i never considered it "nasal"... just a bit high pitched... i mean, she doesn't sound like someone is holding her nose, imo... i always thought her voice was very clear and addicting in the way that it had a very feminine yet balanced, controlled soothing sound. now its gotten lower and more raspy. when i listen to her voice, especially in songs after Duty era and before My Story era, i feel refreshed and able to breathe... which is not what i feel when i listen to other singers such as BoA... i feel congested listening to her voice, LOL, like she has a runny nose and needs to blow it.

I don't think her voice is as nasally as it was in the beginning of her career, actually, her singing voice has become a lot more mature. But she does have that occasional 'nasal' sound...and her talking voice is still a bit on the nasally side, but it's really cute to me. :)

well. it isnt nasal at all. ayu's voice have "opened" :D

the people who bashed ayu dont know their facts.

I don't know, but if it is, then I guess I like nasally-sounding voices, because I like her speaking voice as well.

she's still a lil nasal but not nearly as much as she used to be...

also, i think that there comes a day in your Ayu-fandom when you realize you've become accoustomed to Ayu's voice and that you can whole-heartedly enjoy the performances that others would cringe at just cuz you can appreciate when Ayu gives an ok performance

I noticed this in these songs, too! Maybe that's the, gasp, "cutesy" way Ayu wants to sing those songs?

I think Ayu's voice is nasal til 2001 but after 2002 , not anymore. Her voice is very easy to remember .

When i first heard her i'm like woah @ her voice but now it's awesome!

u kno wat. hearing her voice at first, i thought, duuuude, its sooooo squeaky... but then, after awhile, i just got so addicted to that sweet sound... its unlike any other sweet voice. now, its even sexier than ever.
