0% Popular.
Unless I count myself.
Then like, .5% popular.

arisu_1love 1st March 2008 06:16 PM

Hmmmm....not that many Jpop fans where I am at, but definitely lotsa anime fans. They listen to the songs from artists just because those artists sing anime OSTs. And they definitely are more into seiyuus-turned-recording-artist types.

It just annoys the heck outta me cause I've been trying to get them to be interested in Jpop artists. I only know a small bunch of friends who like Jpop. Some like visual kei.

Bazaa 1st March 2008 06:31 PM

Well, on my degree there are anime fans, but jpop fans are very rare... Although I heard Porno Graffitti today on a national radio, I was totally surprised!

AyUta 1st March 2008 07:42 PM

Hardly here in the bay area :thud
I only know two people who like J-music.

fossil 1st March 2008 07:46 PM

not popular at all.

I'm from asia, so it makes complete sense I listen to asian music, I dont understand how americans could enjoy japanese music though.

CHE.R.RY 1st March 2008 09:34 PM

Errmmmm from what I know of...not so much. There are some otaku here that like anime music but as far as the actual MAINSTREAM J-pop that we like here....I doubt many people do. But who knows? I mean I don't know everyone so there's a possiblity that there are a few who love J-pop.

KuroixShiroi_Namida 1st March 2008 09:38 PM

Since i go to a 90% asian school i guess it's pretty popular. JE are very popular from all those girls at my school lol. Only a few people actually listen to j-music apart from anime/drama themes. I think they listen to whoever is hot XD!

david468 1st March 2008 09:49 PM

I only know of 2 other J-pop fans here.. There are a few anime fans, but they're just into anime songs mostly...

Calico 1st March 2008 09:59 PM

At my university there's a pretty fair share of J-pop fans....esp. since we have 130 Japanese students. =P Actually, a lot of them listen to mostly English music. Go figure. But I managed to get one Jpop fan on my radio show this week and we talked about J-pop for a whole hour! yay! (They're always so surprised that I know so much...>>; )

Yes, that's what it's like at my school.

I think there should be a good group of people, because there's an anime club, an Asian culture club, and different clubs for Japanese, Taiwanese, and Korean students. I'm sure somewhere there are some Jpop fans, but since I'm too busy to go the clubs, I don't really know.

ayuayu798 1st March 2008 10:39 PM

The only person I know who likes j-pop and wasnt infected by me is my friend Sasha ^^, but a lot of people in my school arent really open-minded so they think that just because, I prefer j-pop I have weird taste in music.

paper_doll 2nd March 2008 12:21 AM

I know there's some Jpop fans in my city, but I couldn't say how many, but I doubt there's a lot. Jrock is another thing though, I know of quite a few Jrock fans (none that I've ever met though).

austin. ♥ 2nd March 2008 12:53 AM

0%! Yay!

Corybobory 2nd March 2008 01:15 AM

There's a pretty large asian community around here, but it's mostly Chinese and Korean music that's popular.
