does HK music shop carry legit cds/dvds?

i'll be heading over to HK soon and i'll be grabbing alot of jpop stuff there. i know they sell alot of pirated stuff. are there any authentic jpop products?

dont wanna end up with FAN BAN! if you know what i mean.

yes they would sell genuine cds, just go in proper cd shops in Mall's and just be careful on what you buy.

Go to HMV or any other big name stores. Avoid the little street shops that may have anything price pretty cheaply (I forget the pricing in HK, but I think HK$ 8 = USD $1; so if you see anything that is priced that low, steer clear because most likely it is bootleg).

kotora 7th March 2008 11:57 PM

yes they do, beside Jpops, if you go to HMV, there are tons of cheap and rare DVD Singles like Kylie (OMG), and more...

Most of Honkeys don't listen English songs...:) Good for you if you like it..

it's better if you head to HMV as they're definitely reliable . You might even pick up some HK editions of CDs/DVDs while you're there .

It's definitely much much cheaper as compared to the original Japanese press provided if you're broke .

you made hk sounded like pretty prated lol... just head to major shopping centers and you'll be fine. as long as you don't buy cds from stores in alleyway. but they mostly sell hk version.

haha but you never know what might hit you if you go to those night markets down the streets .

but you're right , the major shopping centres are your safest bet . Best's to stick with HMV as they have a wide range of selection when comes to japanese music .

the same thing happened for my case . Nothing beats HMV in S'pore . They have 1 level in the shopping centre dedicated solely to chinese, korean , japanese music you know .

ALPHY 8th March 2008 06:58 AM

Go to HMV if you want to be safe but be prepared to spend big bucks. If not, the Sino Centre is the place to be. I go there to get my Japanese music whenever I visit Hong Kong. They always sell CDs before the release date lol.
