Change is the fifth studio album by British pop trio the Sugababes, released by Island Records on October 1, 2007 in the Netherlands and October 8, 2007 in the United Kingdom. It's their first full album with Amelle Berrabah and features production by Dr. Luke, Xenomania, Dallas Austin, and DEEKAY among others. The album debuted on top of the UK Albums Chart as well as the top 10 in Estonia and Ireland, and has been certified platinum by the BPI so far.

New album for late 2008 - Babes team with Timbaland

"Right now, the band are making plans for their sixth album. "There's nothing holding us back any more," says Buchanan. "All three of us have the same hunger." Hunger for fame? "No, if anything that's the annoying side," says Range. "I find it really disturbing that little girls want to grow up to be 'famous' or a 'wag'. That's not a profession. You can't base your career on meeting a footballer and then letting him control your life. That whole culture is quite sad. There's something nice about earning your own money. No, our hunger is for singing and performing."

"Sugababes claim the hottest producer in the world, Timbaland, wants to work with them. They told The Star that Tim’ and Justin Timberlake approached them about recording together when they were in the UK. "Timbaland is keen on us. He actually asked us to do stuff with him before. We ended up spending a lot of time with him and Justin last year because they were working on the Madonna album at the same studio as us" Amelle told the newspaper."

lol, coming from Amelle, I wouldn't trust it. :P

ewww, I don't want them to work with Timbaland. they need to get Richard X or Xenomania or someone GOOD to produce their next album. all of their Xenomania-produced tracks, except "Situation's Heavy," are favorites of mine <3

I kinda doubt he/they would, though, since they work with Girls Aloud so much, and the two groups are kind of rivals or whatever.

KaoriNeko 6th April 2008 12:57 AM

I love Sugababes! And working with Timbaland will definitely be a different sound for them, huh? I'm kinda upset that they chose Denial as the next single, it should've been Surprise. I love that song to death.

If Timbaland works with em, it's almost a guarantee for success. Whether you like him or not, the man has a flair for making songs popular. Besides it'll be a nice change, maybe even open them up to the US which I would adore.

bondingo 6th April 2008 04:13 AM

Yeah, whether or not you like Timbaland, if they work with him and release in the US, they have a much better chance at success than if they didn't work with him. People still love Timbaland's collaborations here and with how great the Sugababes are I'm sure they could do amazing things together. I'd love for them to be famous here.

they've already tried to break the US market, though, and bombed. I'm not sure they'd try again even with Timbaland producing them.

Did they really? With what album? I never knew any of them were released here. I've seen Change in a few stores that carry broader selections, but it was always marked as an import. That's how I bought my copy.

drewbilation 6th April 2008 07:13 AM

^ yep. they released "Hole In The Head" as a single here in '04, but it only peaked at no. 96 on Billboard. they were planning to release "Three" here (with "Freak Like Me" and "Round Round" tacked on), but after their second single failed to chart, they canceled it. Blender magazine even gave the album a four-star review.

edit: coincidentally, I was just checking the Blender site, and "Denial" is at no. 2, "Change" is no. 5 and "About You Now" is no. 13 on their top 100. neat <3

drewbilation 10th April 2008 11:45 PM

the next single is apparently gonna be "Never Gonna Dance Again."

Kaiouforever 11th April 2008 12:06 AM

I love that song! I'm glad it's going to be a single. The whole album really surprised me, I like pretty much every track.

KaoriNeko 11th April 2008 12:07 AM

YES! Never Gonna Dance Again is a great song!
...but I want Surprise. :weep

Kaiouforever 11th April 2008 12:11 AM

I want Surprise too, why can't they combine the two and make a Super Single! xD

KaoriNeko 11th April 2008 12:46 AM

^XD. We can cross our fingers for it!

LEOyumi 11th April 2008 04:21 AM

NGDA is the best track of the new album IMO! So glad it's gonna be a single!
And I hope that Timbaland produces sth new for them, I don't want it to sound like every other Timbaland production.

Anyway, Change is a GREAT album, my faovurite by them! <3

bondingo 11th April 2008 08:27 AM

Wasn't it announced that NGDA was gonna be the next single a long time ago? Maybe it was just a rumor, but either way I'm glad it will be because it's a fantastic song. If there is another single after it, then I'd love for Back When or Surprise to be it. I wish they never released Change as a single though because there are so many better songs on the album. Although, the video was absolutely gorgeous so it kind of makes up for it.

Halla 11th April 2008 11:24 AM

plenty of european artists seem to line up for working with timbaland these days.
I just heard a timbaland song I thought was a new justin track or something, but it turned out to be some french artist named M.pokora. fans of timbaland should check out his album, search "m pokora dangerous" on youtube for the lead single.

I'm sure Sugababes get priority with xenomania if they just wanted, Sugababes are much more popular than Girls Aloud. maybe not in UK, but Sugababes are very successful in mainland EU whereas Girls Aloud are nobodies outside UK.

KaoriNeko 13th April 2008 06:03 AM

^Really? I always assumed Sugababes were less popular.

drewbilation 13th April 2008 06:55 AM

yeah, Sugababes consistently outsell GA album-wise, but lately their singles haven't been doing as well as they used to. "About You Now" is the obvious exception, and has become their best selling single EVER, and spent more weeks at no. 1 than any of their others.

Cyria 13th April 2008 07:42 AM

I would have loved it if Surprise had been a single.
