Is Memorial address take 2 a cover?

Memorial address take 2 (the song) is a cover, right? If so, by who? Did Ayu pay money to cover this, or is it a composition that may be used by anyone (for music, games, etc.), like Mozart's stuff?

Yukumi Tetsuya from an indies band called LOVER SOUND TRACK gave it to her. The original is called "Kumo".
That name should be familiar to you, because Yukumi Tetsuya composed "ANGEL'S SONG", "walking proud", "Secret" among others.

when you say that Yukumi Tetsuya gave the song to her , do you mean LOVER SOUND TRACK already sang the song before ayumi did it or the band didn't sang the song but Yukumi gave it to her ?

Okay, so it's not old enough to use the composition and make my own version and use it in a commercial game?

it's not a cover, lyrics are different, music is pretty the same

You need permission from whoever owns the copyright to use it in anything. :p

Actually I can use old stuff like Mozart without that..that's why I asked. :P But I don't think they will give me permission, will they? XD I want an Ayu song in the game lolol.. can't they do it for free so they get English publicity? o_o

You'd have to get in contact with the composer, with avex, and all that jazz, and get their permission, state in the credits that you HAVE their permission as well if you so happen to get it.

dude, Mozart is dead. I don't think he'd mind it if you use his work...

I don't think you'll have success with the avex route.

The reason you can use Mozart - and why Shakespeare can be freely quoted - is because it's in the public domain. Meaning it's free for use.

Meaning Ayumi wouldn't be. :P

You'll probably have to pay them unreasonable amounts of money to use it =/

Memorial address is not a cover.

It just has the LOVERS SOUND TRACK's song composition, ayu wrote the lyrics of Memorial address and it has a different arrangement.
As long as the lyrics are different it's not a cover.
A cover = Same lyrics+Same composition.

The composer is an avex/co-working composer so I don't think they paid him any special extra XD.

I think a cover doesn't have to have the same composition :P.

And about using ayu's music in a game, I think if the game is educational it can be used without royalties.
