Hyori accused of plagiarism again.

http://community.livejournal.com/ohn.../25838951.html

So what do you guys think? Of course the first time she was accused it was for stealing Britney Spears' song "Do Somethin" :o

prussian blue 18th July 2008 10:31 AM

this issue will never end

i was interested with this before, but found these kind of news is random

TITANIC 18th July 2008 10:38 AM

So any similar thing in this world
I never listen to Hyori so I dont really care

AyuGAME 18th July 2008 10:52 AM

well....you can't find original thing these days...

truehappiness 18th July 2008 11:06 AM

I dunno, with Hyori, it seems as though her producers are taking compositions like note for note.

Then again a lot of Koreans seem to do that, but Hyori stands out more. Like if BoA did it, everyone'd be all into it. Like that one song BoA had.. Spark. It supposedly copied some other song. Don't remember but it was a Britney Spears song.

Halla 18th July 2008 11:28 AM

I would not consider this plagiarism, she's just being VERY unoriginal.

her every album/image has just been pieced together from what's "hot & in" at the moment by her handlers. people should just enjoy her music for what it is, instead of forcing some sort of hopes of originality on it ...

Calico 18th July 2008 11:29 AM

Get Ya = Do Somethin' was actually founded...as in you could pretty much sing Do Somethin' to Get Ya.

However, in the link provided...can you say "wtf"? It looks about as founded as "OMG AYU COPIED SO AND SO" threads around here. The link between her and Amy Winehouse doesn't even match. o_O

And U-Go-Girl is as similar to Candy Man as apples to bananas. So they both share a similar time period theme at one part of the video...whoop-pee-doo.

I don't understand how anyone can listen to this creative vampire.

"Spark" is a cover of a Luis Fonsi song, "Fuera de Control."

truehappiness 18th July 2008 12:52 PM

It was probably a different BoA song then. I just remember someone stating that Spark was similar to a song they'd heard before. I guess I forgot that they said that it was in some American shop and that someone later explained that it was a cover or something.

EDIT: I think I remember the songs now. DOUBLE and Let Me Be. I've gotta say though that it really does seem sort of suspicious, but eh.

howtousesexy 18th July 2008 12:53 PM

Gawd, can't they just leave her alone?! T_T

Aisha_Angel 18th July 2008 01:11 PM

U Go Girl is a PV that is greatly INFLUENCED by some of the best music videos to date. I don't have time to seriously point out all of the references but Candy Man is one of them. The video showcases all aspects of a sexy woman from the 30s on up to today with actually GOOD fashion and taste.

Yoake 18th July 2008 01:14 PM

I don't care. I don't like stuff of Hyori.
But few things are original today

[taskin.ayu] 18th July 2008 01:35 PM

The things they presented are hardly copying. Copying a look isn't exactly plagiarism. Maybe if they commented on songs on the new album sounding like Britney and Amy Winehouse they would have some kind of argument. :/

HonMaru 18th July 2008 08:52 PM

Yeah..that wasn't really plagiarism. Not as blatant as Get Ya was.

Kikaru 18th July 2008 09:36 PM

I think plagiarism is too heavy of a word. And I think if you take random screenshots of any two movies there are bound to be similarities, so the context and timing are important.

emi♡ 18th July 2008 09:48 PM

hmmm...

you know...I just...I don't even listen to her music, so I don't really...know....

but anyway...I'm really tired of all the Jpop, Kpop, whatever singers being so unoriginal...I mean...just...ugh...Like you know...Leah Dizon...so many people love her you know...spread the leah dizon love...so I was like okay, I'm gonna check her out...I download all her stuff...seriously...everything.

It's not bad...but it's nothing special either. Sounds like...a bunch of music that I've already heard a million times. I was...disappointed, and I'm sorry to any Leah Dizon fans...but...she's not that original either. Maki really disappointed me too...I've learned...don't believe the hype.

Over the time that I've been here, I've found out that most artists, aren't original at all. Every now and then you get a few great ones who do their own thing and do it well...but, I think it's getting harder to find those.

Choyan 19th July 2008 12:49 AM

hm...the pv is nothing like Candyman ...that's just my opinion~ O-o though I didn't really like that song... eheh;

people have too much free time getting the precisly correct frame to compare to another frame of another artist's pv ... sigh..

Are you talking about Maki Goto..:smackdown

Well she should have learned her lesson from the Britney incident and be more careful with future releases. To her credit Candy Man wasn't exactly the most original PV also.

darc_aqua 19th July 2008 06:42 AM

Not as bad as Get Ya was. A lot of the stuff on this album is quite fresh. much better than Dark Angel
