How do you guys write Ayumi's name on your ID3/4 tags?
I forgot to ask this in my first thread, but how do you guys write it? It's been a bit inconsistent as well, but I write it as ayumi hamasaki. Is this "wrong"? Is it the "proper" way?
How does Avex and Ayumi usually write her name in Romajii outside of on CDs and DVDs? |
On her CD covers, it say ayumi hamasaki
|
Its not wrong but I like to tag it as 浜崎あゆみ
|
I always tag it in Japanese, yes (I always tag everything in Japanese).
if you're going to tag her in english, tag her as "ayumi hamasaki." (Not "Ayumi Hamasaki" or "AYUMI HAMASAKI.") She's always spelt her name in lower cases in english (as opposed to artists like Koda Kumi or Ami Suzuki, etc). |
Do you mean like in an iPod?
I always tag things as 浜崎あゆみ unless it's a fan made/unofficial song. Then I tag it as Ayumi Hamasaki (with uppercase letters). But like Hazuki said, her name in English is usually always labeled as ayumi hamasaki with lowercase letters. |
With any artist who goes by a name (rather than a band name or a one-name-only name or an english name), I romanize their name the official way, but I put it family name first. It's kinda weird now that I think about it but I like having it alphabetized that way, you know?
So it's Hamasaki Ayumi (rather than Ayumi hamasaki, ayumi hamasaki, or Hamazaki Ayumi). Likewise it's Nakashima Mika, Amuro Namie, Aikawa Nanase, Utada Hikaru, Otsuka Ai, Onitsuka Chihiro, etc. :P And I capitalize the first letters of each part of the name too cuz they're proper nouns. So.... wow, I really mix up the English & Japanese naming conventions here. ...I'm suddenly not so confident in my tagging system o_O Crap, I've done it like this for the last 6 years and now I'm rethinking it. >_<!!! |
I go with capitals for all solo artists unless the artists themselves have a special moniker or way of writing their name. It's "Ayumi Hamasaki" for me, because I like capitals and that's the order she lists on her official website.
|
For me it's Ayumi Hamasaki.
|
Hamasaki Ayumi for me.
|
i tag it as ayumi hamasaki. But it always appears as Ayumi Hamasaki. i duno why
|
i use her japanese name 浜崎あゆみ..
|
i use Ayumi Hamasaki but there was a time I use her chinese name, but the right way should be her japanese name or at least Hamasaki Ayumi, i just use Ayumi Hamasaki because i want ayu to appear on the top of my itunes and ipod
|
浜崎あゆみ for me
|
I tag it as 浜崎あゆみ.
|
Ayumi Hamasaki
My old laptop didnt like Japanese tags in songs when I first listened to her. Also it means it links to 浜崎あゆみ on last.fm cos its her proper romanji name |
i don't really care... :)
|
So several people use the Kana spelling. Does she go by this spelling outside of on CDs? Like if she's going to have official appearance at, say, an Avex event, the flier will say 浜崎あゆみ instead of ayumi hamasaki?

I always tag Ayu as 浜崎あゆみ. |
In my MP3 files, I label it as "Ayumi Hamasaki - (insert a song title here)".
But there are times that I use her usual "Kanji&hiragana" name of hers. |
I use winamp auto tag :D works for all ayu songs :D 浜崎あゆみ. even last.fm says so :P
