What are some classic Cpop song?

I'm really itching to hear some classics~ umm classics like maybe..."moon represents my heart"(i hope people who know chinese understand what song i'm talking about), or tian mi mi(theresa song, i can't remember her last name)

and there's another like *warning, very literal translation* "the fault caused by the moon", "the most loved is you", some A-mei songs like Sisters, Bad Boy is a classic, red rose by elva is kinda a classic

i'm not asking for songs in the 60s, maybe somewhere in the 80s and 90s or early 00s, or songs that are listed as classics when you go to KTV

i'm sorry, can't type chinese, so anyone that grows up around chinese music, please recommend me some songs. or compliation names~

...and please don't tell me that a jolin song is a classic...T.T

pommy48 19th August 2008 04:02 AM

...would you mind typing those? pinyin and me...are horrible together
hmm i only know some by tao zi, so no need from her

How could you not mention Ting Hai? It's always shown on music channels in Taiwan.

I'll ask a few friends of mine who live(d) in Taiwan for you. It would take too long for me to talk to relatives.

^ Umm, I know many Chinese classics but I don't know the names of the artists or the song titles... I could try searching a bit. ;) Most will be late 80s or early 90s hits.

Vivian Lai:

Faye Wong:

Sally Yeh: OMGGG! Can't miss this one! It was a HUGE hit!

Andy Lau: Another HUGE hit.

Priscilla Chan:

oo oo -- imo, Faye Wong's "May We Last Forever" (i'm not Chinese, but that's how i downloaded it :S), also the Chinese version to Michael Learns to Rock's "Take Me To Your Heart"... i think originally by Aaron Kwok.

and i looove Teresa's "Moon Represents My Heart"!!! but i also consider Kenny Bee's songs from his movie "Errant Love". i don't know their titles and i've been looking for them to download or buy for the longest time T_T

but omg, Faye Wong has so many classics. i love her.

Yes, yes, yes. I love that song :D

As panda87 said, Faye has so many classics. I really don't know which are the most popular of her classics, but I know that 香奈兒 was huge:

I can only really comment on Faye stuff. XD I was into Cpop for awhile but Faye is really the only artist I followed the career of.

Ngoi Mui (Dubious)

Wo Yuan Yi (I'm Willing)

(I Don't Want To Be This Way Either)

Dan Yuan Ren Chang Jiu (Wishing People Lived Forever)

Do Duk Ta (Because Of Him)

Zhi Mi Bu Hui (No Regrets - mandarin version)

Fu Zao (Restless)

There are more, but I hope that's enough for now. XD

I did most of that pinyin/romanization from memory, i hope it's right. XD

Oh, and here's a 2-for-1... Faye's cover of "Lotus In the Snow" by Theresa Teng. i LOVE both versions of the song, but here's faye's.

pommy48 20th August 2008 06:15 AM

yeah i love faye too~ well i'm going to try taiwanese online KTV sites, and see what songs they list as the classics, but thanks for all your help~

omg, hm.... let see, well I don't reallllly know Cpop outside HKpop ness so.... if interms of HKpop

omg
can't forget Beyond, they're like
....what? one of the only bands to make it INTO Japan??? (am I right? not sure if they're the ONLY BAND~~~) which I think is a pretty huge achievement considering how little non-japanese artists go into the Japanese market then ...

they've got REALLY REALLLY nice stuff ...as for titles... um.... lemme see...
-Amani
-真愛的你
-大地
-喜歡你
-光輝歲月
(these are just songs I liked though .... but I'm pretty sure they were quite popular)
here's a wiki link on them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beyond_(band)
they really were ..is? an awesome band (at least up til the point before Wong Ka Kui died...)

---------
Actually...they might be more ..Canton-rock... XD ok >_>; XD
