Ayu and Prince
 

I was on wikipedia looking at Prince's entry (I don't even know how I got to it xD) and I was reading about his name change when it said

I thought that was quite cool that; 1# Ayu and Prince are the only two artists to have personalized symbols and 2# that Ayu was mentioned on a non-Jpop topic which means people might go "Oooh who's that?" -clicks on Ayu's link- :yes

I completely forgot that Prince has a personalized symbol. :laugh I didn't even think of Ayu's symbol as a "personalized symbol." :P

That symbol was used as Prince's actual stage name for a time. That was when he was called "the artist formerly known as Prince" or, sometimes just "the artist".

Ayu's A symbol is not her stage name, it's just her logo. PLENTY of other artists have logos.

Hanson (their name in a circle pattern), Dream Theater (pretty intricate letter symbol), Alisha's Attic ("Aa" in a circle), The Rolling Stones (mouth), The Ramones (presidential-seal style logo), HIM (the heartagram... thanks to tasking for reminding me of that one ^^).... ALL these groups have logos and there are tons more bands who stylized their name to make a logo (like Kiss and The Pillows).

A logo is just a marketing symbol. Prince's symbol was his actual NAME.

Ayu & Prince have nothing in common (aside, of course, from making some epic pop music over the years), whoever wrote that in wikipedia was very confused (and not particularly educated about other music artists with logos).

eh...but what Deli's said is all true, many other artist has their own logo to simplified their name for marketing and other purposes...

A lot of those are bands.
And Ayu and Prince are both solo.

Well, as said above, they are not the only ones... The Rolling Stones have their iconic symbol too... But apart from them, not many singers/band

I think i've seen prince's logo before. Don't know much abt him though.. Ayu's A Symbol is so cool :) Avril Lavigne's symbol which is mainly the skull is also not bad.

Yeah, it's definitely not just for solo artists, KK and Avril's logos were mentioned.... alanis morissette used to have that AM in the circle which she only uses sporadically these days. Mika Nakashima has her lotus flower too.

So yeah.
