Ayu CD Versions by region

I am confused - I thought in the past there is only Japan version and Overseas version. 2 verions only. Japan version is made in Japan and targeted to Japanese market. Overseas version is made overseas and it is targeted at the rest of the world outside of Japan. Although the overseas version means Chinese version because it has Chinese titles on the album and Chinese lyrics translation. If you look at the overseas version CD, usually at the back, there is a disclaimer saying this is for sale in HK, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines etc etc

However, it seems like when A COMPLETE is released, there is HK version, TW version..etc etc....

So is there no overseas version now? Overseas version has changed in HK version and Taiwan version? What's the difference?

Please help me as I am deciding which version I should buy for my A COMPLETE!

^Older albums just had a general OS press, more recent albums have pressings in their different countries. Like an HK press, a Taiwan press, a Korean press. Yeasasia's offering the HK press with a poster, so that may be your bet if you're looking for an overseas pressing.

I would imagine HK version has traditional chinese lyrics sheet...'cuz that's what they use in HK, only mainland china (and southeast asia chinese i think) uses simplifed chinese

OH! ok then~ oops
then...why do they have to make hong kong and taiwan versions...why not just one big versions together~
is one cheaper than the other? or the quality?

^Probably. Plus they're considered different entities so they have different marketing strategies. Avex just probably has warehouses/factories in both places now.

You may want to see what the KR versions even have to offer. I think they come back while you were gone - for a long time Japanese CDs were banned (?) in Korea until an embargo was lifted and now they're being sold in Korea again with their own style. Sometimes they're even cheaper than HK versions and have other amenities.

Sometimes they do just have the one version. For some of Ayu's CDs, Taiwan and HK have made their own pressings of the CD+DVD version, but only Taiwan made a CD only version and that version is imported and distributed locally by Avex Asia and so on. That also happens with releases by less popular artists.

When you get something huge like A Complete, each local company's going to make their own, that's why there are so many, like Taiwan, HK, Singapore, Korea, etc. etc.

Avex Asia is Avex's Hong Kong subsidiary. In Korea her albums are licensed to SM Entertainment and in Singapore they're licensed to Warner Music Singapore. I'm not sure about China.

there used to be an avex office in S'pore but it has been since closed down

since then , any artistes under avex in which their material's produced locally's done by Warner S'pore

the taiwan and hongkong version are slightly different, i got the taiwan version of (m)u tour and it's a little different, the taiwan version is made exactly like the japan version, but with additional chinese words and translation. AS for the hk version, it's slightly altered, singapore and malaysia normally get our version from the hongkong press.

pommy48 14th September 2008 08:04 AM

yeah~ my taiwan CD+DVDs all have chinese translation sheets~
and how is the HK altered?

mimika 15th September 2008 03:19 AM

yea I want to know how is the HK version altered too? because I am deciding which version to get
