50th Nihon Record Taisho

A tad surprised that no one has posted this yet. The Nihon Record Taisho is the most prestigious music awards in Japan. The nominees for the grand prize are:

"Soba ni Iru ne" by Thelma Aoyama
"Ai no Mama de" by Junko Akimoto
"Ameato" by w-inds.
"Ti Amo" by EXILE
"Edo no Temari Uta II" by C-ute
"Moon Crying" by Kumi Koda
"Ya Mujo" by Kazuyoshi Saito
"Jungle Dance" by Nana Tanimura
"Doushite Kimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimattan Darou?" by TVXQ
"Genkai Funauta" by Kiyoshi Hikawa
"Wajima Asaichi" by Kaori Mizumori
"Girigiri HERO" by mihimaru GT

Prediction: Exile wins this year. Personally, I think Kiyoshi Hikawa or Kaori Mizumori should win. Thelma Aoyama wins for best vocalist.

Why on earth do they keep nominating w-inds year after year? Really? TVXQ? Are they the new BoA? C-ute? Moon Crying?

Should have been nominated instead: Jero, GreeeN, Perfume, and Days, Days, Days! :P

Congratulations for Namie for winning Best Album. She won the grand prize twice before: for "Don't Wanna Cry" and "Can You Celebrate?"

no JE? :grumpy

i want nana to win for JUNGLE DANCE :D

Foxxy_Fuyumi 9th December 2008 11:21 PM

^ Others deserve more than Nana Tanimura. I think EXILE is becoming very overrated =\
From that list the one that should win are maybe "Soba ni Iru ne" by Thelma Aoyama and "Genkai Funauta" by Kiyoshi Hikawa.

I hope Thelma wins

Agreed, GReeeeN should be nominated

AyuGAME 10th December 2008 01:02 AM

i don't understand, how they choose the nominees

AyUta 10th December 2008 02:02 AM

The only artist I know from that rather small list is Kumi....is the music awards different than in the US?

emi♡ 10th December 2008 02:52 AM

:laugh the nominees are why no one posted that yet.

greggerz189 10th December 2008 04:35 AM

^Seriously. It's really unfortunate. They should've given a nomination to Mr.Children for "HANABI."

etheruraura 10th December 2008 06:56 AM

What a joke list.

I just wonder how things work with regards to the Nihon Record Taisho :shrug

It is being chosen by professional song writers and record producers I think.

as much I hope Kumi would win I think EXILE would win. ANd yes thelma should win best vocalist.

and whoever said that Kiyoshi Hikawa should win is on drug. That song sound like they're moaning for the death.

Uemarasan 10th December 2008 08:21 AM

Well, at the very least, at least it's not a populist list :P Five of the nominees are not familiar because four sing enka and one is indie rock. I'm just glad traditional Japanese music is still being nominated!

And at least the grand prize winner is rarely a questionable choice. Last year it was Kobukuro. The year before that Kiyoshi Hikawa. Then Kumi Koda, Mr. Children, three years of Ayu, Southern All Stars, Glay, globe, two years of Namie Amuro, Mr. Children again, etc. All fine choices!

Kobukuro should have been nominated this year even though they won last year. I think the reason Mr. Children hasn't been nominated in the past few years is because they already won twice.

KarenPang 10th December 2008 08:48 AM

talking about Kobukuro who won last year , they deserved it for sure

Tsubomi's a great song & it deserved to be their 1st no.1 single too

Ayumiko 10th December 2008 11:47 PM

I think exile will win this year.
