is it easily accessible to find JPop stuff in where you live ?

for me I'm quite lucky in the sense that JPop's relatively big in S'pore even though chinese & english pop more or less dominate here .

There's a big HMV located in the downtown of my country where they stock up on the latest jpop items for sales & they even have 1/2 of the 3rd level dedicated to Asian Pop (there're 3 levels in HMV Heeren itself & I'm always forever calling HMV every week LOL) & there're also 2 Kinokuniya bookshops located in S'pore too .

The downsides of issues is that HMV's not allowed to import DVDs pertaining to singles/albums/concert dvds from Japan due to the censorship board & the region code differences & it's downright impossible to find a more extensive list of jpop items sold in heartlands CD shops (like there's no way I can find a KAT-TUN single/album in CDRama at all) but I suppose there's always an up & down side in every single issue .

Nope, I live in the USA. So I have to buy everything online. I do wish there was a store where I can just walk in and buy things though.

^lol.

No, not where I live in Canada. But once I move back to Taiwan next year, Jpop is found everywhere. I can usually find imports although they are so expensive.

brand new love 17th May 2009 06:14 AM

no. i have never seen anything remotely related to j-pop in stores.

tho a while ago i was looking up random stuff on walmart.com and it say they had one of KAT-TUN's albums in stock.. the next time i went to walmart i secretly searched for it but it wasn't there of course :irked

Miltonic 17th May 2009 06:17 AM

Nope, everything online for me too and if there is some place close I have no idea where it would be lol

Wal-Mart sells KAT-TUN? o_O

---

but yeah! there are places to find J-pop in my area. if you live in Orange County, Caifornia, there is a Mitsuwa Marketplace in Costa Mesa with Books Sanseido inside. it's where i get my magazines & i get music there sometimes too. there's also a Kinokuniya & Book-Off (this is the jackpot, SERIOUSLY) around that area also.

i have to drive about 20 minutes though. however, i try to go when i'm at school since it's like 5-7 minutes from University. :)

love in music 17th May 2009 06:48 AM

no way! nothing is ever here!

Polyrhythm 17th May 2009 06:55 AM

Well...the closest thing Ive got to authentic Jpop CD's is a Lifeplaza in Arcadia CA that sells Taiwan Press Jpop CDs...and very limited selection. Theres like 2 bookoff stores and a kinokuniya but I havent gone to them yet (no car) x_x

University of California, Irvine or better known as UCI.

Mr. Goto 17th May 2009 07:53 AM

sort of. in a town called Markham that's like 30min from my house there are a bunch of stores called "Broadcast" that has j-pop for sale. For people living in the area Pasific Mall has one ;)

90% of it is the overseas press though. i haven't really found any other places, i need to go hunting in the city one day.

like karen, i'm in singapore so it's very easy to find jpop cds here.

you can find jpop in almost every cd store, but if you want more, it's hmv, though their price aren't cheap and they only have the cd only version(japan press). If i order online, i'll still save at least SGD$5 to SGD$10 per cd, so i'll only buy fom here, if i can't find it online.

chloeM 17th May 2009 10:26 AM

yeah... but they release them a month later~

prussian blue 17th May 2009 12:47 PM

^i know! :weep

in here, you can get J-pop CD, the famous one, like ayu, koda, namie (<-i doubt this), and tohoshinki, they are like the god here, every girl trying to buy their single and album

the price is much cheaper than singapore, while the quality is quite the same
