Ayu's singles (How would you like her next single?)
 

What does everyone think of the format that ayu's singles come in?
Any aspect of it...the different versions, covers, tracklistings, etc.

I'm just curious. I really miss the old way they were released (One format (CD), about 10 tracks, only 1 A-side.)

I suppose a CD+DVD format is welcomed too, but if that's the case, they should include something on the DVD that WON'T be on the inevitable album DVD, to give consumers more incentive to purchase it. (I swear I should manage ayu, not some retard at avex).

For the next single, I wish it would follow the old pattern. Something like

*Heartwrenching power BALLAD LIKE Dearest*

1- original mix
2- acoustic version
3- remix
4- remix
5- remix of Sunrise or Sunset
6- remix
7- remix
8- another remix of Sunrise or Sunset
9- acoustic version instrumental
10- instrumental

One or two formats at most...but if there is a DVD with the making, don't include the making on the album. sighhhh.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like if they just promoted the one song very heavily and gave it lots of tie-ins, it would sell just as well as other singles if they put extra tracks like remixes on there.

What do you guys think?

She kind of did the format you want in Rule/Sparkle, don't you think? It was a double a-side, but it was full of remixes.

I don't think having a million remixes in a single would really do much of an impact, only the big fans appreciate them. A casual person won't be like "Oh I'll buy it because it has the exact same song remixed 10 times."

If Ayu released in just CD-only format her sales would tank, it's just not the way things are done anymore. The reason her old singles were the way they were is because that's how things were done in 1999-2001. They're not done that way anymore, so it'd be really stupid to go back to doing them that way.

As for me, I'd want something like this:

Fresh Song
Fresh Song 2
Fresh B-side not on an album
Instrumentals of the two a-sides.

That's all a SINGLE needs. You're not buying an album, singles don't need to be more then five or six tracks maximum, idealy, they're ONE track, that's why they're SINGLES.

Depending on which version you get, the tracklist is in a different order, so happy collecting Ayu fans!!!!

I just want a super catchy pop song, that's strong and sexy, kind of like Sparkle or Startin', less faux hardcore rock... though I think electric guitar laced pop is good. Or maybe electronic mixed with string instrumentals, again kind of like Sparkle.

I also like the idea of trance, something like Whatever or Connected. Those songs are beautiful.

I also want a beautiful cover... have not seen one in such a long time... just a very sophisticated shot of her face, a flattering image. And possibly a full photobook (like "off my day" or the Guilty photobook)? I don't think she's ever attached a full photobook for a single right? Don't know if that's economical but I love her photobooks, I feel that's a huge plus in buying a cd instead of downloading online, the tangible photobook.

hmm i think she will be releasing a winter ballad again..it's just like every year cycle..

i'd like two upbeat songs. kind of like rule/sparkle. and maybe an acoustic orchestra version of sunset, and a remix of one of the songs off of NEXT LEVEL. but she might not have another single until winter and if that's the case just a nice winter ballad is all i want :yes, i don't really care what else is on the single

The B-side will only be on the single, which is why the B-side making of is only included. Ayu should release a nice and simple single like that.

i need more remix in each single. a typical older ayu single is really good, if the remixes have more variety and listen-able

like trance mix, some-famous-DJ remix (yasutaka nakata :lech) or even more acoustiv version of A-side

Something like this would be good:

In my opinion any more than 2 remixes and that's bad...look what happened with Rule/Sparkle. The GREEN and Days were awesome, but the Rule ones SUCKED.
Also I don't think a b-side needs an instrumental or a PV. :P
