WTH is Avex's problem? STILL no Ayu on Blu-Ray?!

This is so frustrating to me. 2009 is more than half way over and Avex still hasn't released a single Blu-Ray for Ayumi? What is their problem?! :eviltongu

Can someone fill me in? I have a theory but I want to hear some responses before I share hat I think. It makes me really disappointed though for sure. :(

AyUta 16th August 2009 11:16 PM

this should be moved to the ayu chatroom. a mod will move it for you :).

um...well, if memory serves me correctly, hardly, if any artists, have anything in blu-ray :shrug

namie is barely coming out with one...

zyoeru 16th August 2009 11:19 PM

Er...blueray is expensive technology, most of us are happy enough with DVDs...that's why. :P
I don't know anyone who has a blueray player on their computer, or a blueray DVD player. :P

do it again 16th August 2009 11:22 PM

who else is releasing blu-ray besides namie... for the first time?

Chibi_Venus 16th August 2009 11:35 PM

I'm sure once regular DVDs and their format become obsolete, avex will start releasing Ayu DVDs (at least the concerts) in Blu-ray format. :P

SunshineSlayer 16th August 2009 11:56 PM

I'm not sure how popular blue ray is in Japan. Them releasing Namie's tour may be a test to see if releasing blue ray is even worth it sales wise.

pommy48 17th August 2009 12:18 AM

maybe avex is trying to catch up with sony, since doesn't angela aki and ken hirai already have blu-ray concerts?

Calico 17th August 2009 12:40 AM

I just got back from Japan and hardly anybody I talked to there knew what blu-ray was. :shrug It just hasn't caught up there yet.

Doesn't matter to me, I still use DVDs. NEver even seen a blu-ray.

Zemus 17th August 2009 12:58 AM

Avex released Ai Otsuka's concert tour 2007 on Blu-ray back in January 2008. That's the first blu-ray from them if I recall correctly:

Perhaps it just ain't worth it yet? :shrug

truehappiness 17th August 2009 12:59 AM

Yeah, I think Ai had the first Blu-ray concert disc..

And I recall T.M. Revolution had a CD+Blu-ray single?

That's rather odd, considering the stereotype that the Japanese are always at the forefront of new technology and such. Bluray is Japanese too.

I guess it'll come around eventually. Hopefully they'll release backwards.

Nana Mizuaki (singer who made ULTIMATE DIAMOND) was one of the first artists to release a Concert DVD in BLU-RAY if I recall.

JackieRos 17th August 2009 02:25 AM

idk whats so special about blu ray
maybe they dont want to waste money on it

I Am... Aaron 17th August 2009 02:26 AM

I guess I just thought, like ZoomZoom said, that Japan should be at the forefront of the technology, and Ayumi being #1 with so much, should be one of the first to employ the Blu-Ray format.

Also, I don't have a Blu-Ray player per se... I have a PlayStation 3. I know that's not HUGE in Japan but isn't it big enough? I wanna watch Ayumi in HD widescreen on my nice new big TV I just got!

It's not a waste. Ayumi, especially at her concerts, would look AWESOME in high definition. Especially if you have a really good television. I get it that many watch on the computer, but in my opinion the people like me who are actually paying full price for her DVD's etc, are the ones who would pay a little extra to see Ayumi in the highest quality available.

JackieRos 17th August 2009 02:33 AM

i was just saying maybe avex dont want to waste money due to the economy problems
