Some Comments About "Days"

Someone in this blog commented about "Days"

This is the message if you lazy to check the blog : :P

Spoiler:
I've happen to listened to this while shuffling through my collection.

'Days', has rather nice lyrics coupled with a simple melody structure. I bet she wrote the lyrics on one of her 'nostalgia' days... I've always found her lyrics to be expressive, and true enough, on wikipedia it writes:

Hamasaki has "developed a reputation as a thoughtful, introspective lyricist"; Barry Walters of The Village Voice comments that Hamasaki's lyrics "pack unlikely insights." Because she has "trouble voicing her thoughts", Hamasaki uses her lyrics as an outlet; she "draws from her own experiences and emotions" and tries to put them "honestly into words". She has stated that honesty is essential to her lyrics, saying, "If I write when I'm low, it will be a dark song, but I don't care. I want to be honest with myself at all times." Because of this, she did not use English lyrics until her album Rainbow, as she had felt that she could best express herself in Japanese.

Ah-hah!

About Barry Walters of The Village Voice commented about Ayu lyrics, I don't know it's true or not, because I didn't find it on Wikipedia (as he stated above), and yeah, don't rely too much on Wikipedia. :dead2

But, if those are true, I think we missed this information~ :innocent

Barry Walters of the Village Voice.... is he anyone famous I should know about? ^.^;;; Or is it just that he's an American journalist writing about a Japanese artist?

Either way it's pretty cool, anyhow. :yes Thanks for bringing my attention to it~

Reviews included in the Village Voice are taken pretty seriously most of the time... it's the publication, not so much the reviewer. So it's somewhere in between "famous columnist you should know about" and "american journalist talking about a japanese artist" lol :P~

Oh, haha.... thanks for the info. Sad to say I actually don't know this publication. But I can be excited for the fact that this is an American journalist reviewing a Japanese artist. :P

Maybe I should look more into this Village Voice. ^.^;;

The Wikipedia article is fully reliable (I can vouch for it—it's a featured article and I wrote it XD). The only reason I used that source is because (what Wiki considers) reliable sources that discuss Ayu's artistry in-depth are so hard to come by. You might not have noticed that bit because it was added relatively recently.

So that's true! :D
