Rock, Punk Rock (indie too) *3*

Hey y'all :P

I really love rock and punk rock, and also many indie rock bands . They're my favorite genres of music and I'm always eager to know good bands which are worth of a listen. I'm looking for western bands since I already know most of the Japanese scene on that matter, so if you can recommend me bands and albums I would be very grateful! We can even turn this thread into a chat room for this genre so we can share bands we like!

Some of the bands I like and that could more or less be classified under those labels are these (you can make an idea of what I like from this list in order to recommend)

-Sex Pistols
-Porcelain and the Tramps
-The Offspring
-Placebo
-The Veronicas
-Paramore
-Interpol
-Death Cab for Cutie
-Paper Route

...and more

I can't help myself, Yeah Yeah Yeahs are my favourite Indie band!
Their first album (Fever to Tell) is very garage rock, the second (Show Your Bones) is more acoustic (and my favourite) and their third (It's Blitz) is more electro-punk-pop-rock :P, but a great album nonetheless.
Gold Lion is one of my faves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dewzOxQ52kg

Metric are very good too, though i've only heard their latest album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEz8N8AT-yo

There are heaps of great British Bands like Kasabian (latest album is a bit electro too though), Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, The Last Shadow Puppets
Late 70's Punk Rock Bands like Siouxsie & the Banshees and Iggy Pop are awesome.

Silversun Pickups and The Kills are good bands too but I don't like them as much as the others.

Oh, and Thrice! They do everything from hard rock to alt rock... Vheissu is a great album and Music Box is a pretty cool song, it uses a sample of a Japanese lullaby called Sakura: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eBA7fWS8Yw

Hope I helped and you like at least a few of the suggestions. :)

EDIT: I can't list all these bands without representing my wonderful Australia! Wolfmother - Joker & the Thief http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKjV_bWnFCM, Eskimo Joe - Their song foreign land is cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wypweAD2d4 and JET, took a great riff from Iggy Pop to make this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAxUIjJrFKQ

Metric are great :yes Their previous releases are generally really good, but I think Fantasies is their best overall.

I'd stick to the classics like Aerosmith, The Stones, etc, their whole discographies are just amazing
And younger bands like Jet have lots of good music too

I LOVE The Yeah Yeah Yeahs!! :love
I've only heard It's Blitz! and Date with the Night, which is pure sex (because it was on the Skins soundtrack haha), and I'm eager to listen to more about them :D
You made a great post, I will try them all in due time! And I'm glad you share some Australian music, because I'm quite curious about their sound! Aren't The Veronicas from over there too or did I made it up? Think I heard that before..

And does anyone know if Porcelain and the Tramps are finally releasing an album? Because there's just a bunch of tracks floating around the net...

I also love Asobi Seksu, and the singer is japanese. Have you heard of them?

Yeah, I love Metric! I've been meaning to get their earlier albums but I never seem to get around to it. I had Fantasies on loop for a while!

I've never seen anyone else who knows about Fever Ray either! I got her album recently and it's very interesting and haunting! Good stuff!

I'm so glad you're a YYYs fan! Do try their first 2 albums, there really just as good, but different genres, so it's very interesting to listen to them.

Yes, The Veronicas are Australian too. I never really got into them but I quite like Everything I'm Not and Untouched.

I just youtubed Thursday by Asobi Seksu...and I love their sound! :luv2
Thanks for that! :) You have very good taste in music (and TV shows) :yes

Hi!

Well, I'd like to know more bands that made indie, rock and punk rock music, and although I don't know so many bands that respond to these characteristics, I can show you a few indie bands ^^U

Firstly, The ting tings. Indie 100% haha. They're very known, and a lot of their songs are used on tv spots (cuatroº lo hace constantemente xDDD)

Here's some: my favourite, Shut up and let me go, That's not my name and Great DJ

Mmm what more.. Oh! yes, an spanish band (lately, they're become more famous!), Russian red. (by the wayI had thought to make a thread for them soon! xD) The same, they're indie ^^ here, their songs: Cigarretes, my favourite Gone, play on and Nice Thick Feathers.

Another indie band that I love sooo much is Love of lesbian. They're spanish too, and although now they sing in spanish, years ago they did in english. Good songs? Universos infinitos (great PV!), Cuestiones de familia, and Club de fans de Jhon Boy. Special mention has the song Villancico para mi cuñado Fernando xDD

I want to create a thread of them too, I'll do soon ^_^

(Don't know why, but something is telling me that you already know these two last bands xD I hope not! xD)

Oh! I just remember another band.. Airbag! Haha. They're from my city (bueno, de estepona xD). They sing in spanish, and make funny and catchy songs. Is rock-indie, punk-indie.. or something like that xD Songs that I like.. Roswell 1947, La chica normal or "Jamás podría vivir en Hong Kong" (<-sorry, I can't find a link >_<).

Well, another interesting band is Najwajean, but they're not indie.. they made electronic music, trip-hop music.. hard to describe them, really xD
Anyway, if you're interested (or someone else), I did a thread for them here ^^

And that's all! (for now! haha)

PD: Oh, I once heard the group Phoenix, from France (but sing in english)... and I really liked one song, Lisztomania ^^
