CDL10-11 Trip (US Southwestern/Southeastern)

So polka-dot-jewel and I were talking, and Countdown Live 2010-2011 came up. I mentioned that I wanted to go. So we decided to ask if there were any others interested in going.

If there is, we could make it a group trip!

I'm in New Mexico and she's in Tennessee, so this thread would be to count the interested people that live in the Southeast and Southwest.

Anyone interested? :love

We'll definitely need ballpark figures for the overall budget, but if there's a way to keep costs down, that should be implemented.

polka-dot-jewel 10th March 2010 02:46 AM

HEY BB!!! :D

Prices will depend on plane ticket prices, how long we'll be in Japan, where we'll go, concert ticket prices, etc etc. We've got plenty of time to think about this stuff, though.

I hope a lot of people join us! Of course, if people outside the Southeast / Southwest want to join us for the trip, y'all are more than welcome to come with :)

truehappiness 10th March 2010 02:52 AM

I wish I was interested in going to Japan, haha. (And had a job / the money for this sort of thing HAHAHA) But oh well. Have fun!

I'm still saving my money, starting now! *puts 10 bucks in a jar labeled the Japan Jar*

ownsarai 10th March 2010 03:33 AM

I wish I could go~~~ Because I'm in the Southwest and would love to, but...money is always tight here.
I hope you two have fun, and keep us updated! :D

Delirium-Zer0 10th March 2010 04:46 AM

Yeah, I'm in that area and I'd love to come, but money is just too tight right now (and still will be at the end of the year, I'm sure)... I hope the rest of you guys have fun though!

gallowsCalibrator 10th March 2010 05:19 AM

I'll have to see how the whole money issue is, and if I'm set to go, I'd loove to go on a group trip :D

YAYYY. Where exactly are you? =D

gallowsCalibrator 10th March 2010 05:44 AM

^I'm in the Florida area at the moment :D I travel a lot but I'll most likely be in the area at the end of the year :D Hopefully I'll have saved up enough to be able to go!

Estella 10th March 2010 05:54 AM

I am thinking of going!!

.. but I live in Australia.. :P

forgiver 10th March 2010 06:02 AM

I'm in Florida. If we get ballpark figures, I would be seriously interested. LIKE CRAZY.

Tony G 10th March 2010 07:06 AM

I'm thinking of going too, and live in Australia. It would be awesome to meet up with AHS members there. Problem is, CDL tickets are very hard to get, and expensive and re-sell shops because there are only two shows. So it might be safer to go to one of her tours instead of the CDL.

I'm hoping she announces an Asia tour, somewhere a bit closer to home and cheaper than Japan.

We're going to try anyway. >D

Tony G 10th March 2010 07:25 AM

Yeah definitely. Dunno if I'd go there without a ticket in my hand before I went to Japan (i'd maybe use one of those services that gets japanese concert tickets for you). If you have a lot of money, and are willing to pay as much as possible for a ticket anywhere in the arena (good or bad), its worth going and getting the ticket through reseller shops.

Plus flights are exteremly expensive during this period. Flying out a few days before christmas until about a week or two after new years is peak season, probably the most expensive time to fly in the whole year. I remember looking for flights last christmas and they were ridiculous, almost double the price to any other time of the year.

So yeah, you need a lot of money to make the journey to Japan during this time. So that's why I'm leaning towards waiting for her Tour in 2011. I'd be booking flights as early as possible for christmas/new year period.

HarukaKamiya 10th March 2010 07:48 AM

^ Yeah, I know, but I'd at least like to generate a little bit of interest/possibly add more to make it a group, because, even though it'd be SUPER AWESOME AND AMAZING with just polka-dot-jewel herself, it'd be even MORE super if others could come too.

Saving my money all the same. :D

polka-dot-jewel 10th March 2010 05:42 PM

It's also very expensive to fly out at the beginning of May, too, since that's Golden Week.

I've always wanted to go to Japan around Christmas / New Years, and I've planned on going this year for a very long time, so I'm definitely dedicated on going and aware about how expensive everything will turn out to be.

There's also deals that randomly pop up on airline sites. I probably won't be able to buy my plane ticket until September/October (as I'm saving up for a summer trip to Europe), but even then, there will be deals going on. I decided to check Expedia for prices from LAX to Tokyo (Narita), and the cheapest was $754, which is actually incredible for any time of year. Of course, if I chose that flight, I'd have to find a flight from Nashville to LAX, which would cost a bit more money right there.

And I know some cheap places to stay that aren't affected by the times of year :D

ah cool. i live in florida but my parents hardly liked letting me go on my middle school band trips to tennesee and georgia. . . they would never let me go out of the country like that unfortunately cuz "15 is just too young, jasmine". . .and yeah im sure they dont wanna pay for that either

well we'll see. . .if not have fun ^__~ such a long way off it seems . . .

Well, if you go to an airline office or travel agency, they can get you ridiculously cheap deals if you are willing to fly during Christmas (24-25)... It's a bit extreme, but I did it last year and the flight price from here to Tokyo round-trip went from 2,400 dollars to just 1,600... Usually those prices don't go online. And you should check Singapore Airlines, it always had the best price for the non-stop LAX/NRT

About hotel, you can always try Toyoko Inn... It's a decent hotel chain with amazing prices and good locations all around the city. Booking is online and starts only 90 days before arrival, which may be a good thing for you considering you're buying tickets after September.

Good luck guys ;)

Marseille 10th March 2010 06:15 PM

about tickets though, does anyone know how/where to get them? I'm in the USA now, and I'm definately interested in attending CDL, but I wouldbe too disappointed if I went all the way there for New Year's without getting AYU CDL tickets.

Is there like a site - Japanese equivalent of ticket master.

polka-dot-jewel 10th March 2010 06:27 PM

You may want to check out the "How I made it to Tokyo and AT06" thread. It's got A LOT of information on where and how to obtain tickets.
