She's alone at the tree waiting for someone for a very long time.. her life is almost over and she knows it, but she keeps holding out and waiting for the person to arrive.
Eventually, she accepts death and lets herself go. In the other side, she is reunited with the person she was waiting for; he already died and she didn't know.. As she accepted death as a part of life, she freed herself from the despair...
Another concept in the PV is that life leads to more life. The mantis could live because the butterfly died, and then the snake could live because the mantis died. The flowers blossomed because Ayumi died... It might be wrong, but I remember hearing one time that in Bhuddism, everything is reincarnated... This goes along with the theme of the lyrics; having loved someone in a past life...
