That's not completely true, most actors have more than one house (one on each coast, to cover all their bases). Price-wise, land is very expensive in Japan due to the fact that it is an island. It's comparable to owning an apartment in New York City. Just to put things into perspective, there's a rumor going around the city that Tom Cruise is planning on paying $20 million for a 4 room
apartment in one of the exclusive residences.

Hmm, this could be a translation issue. I'm not completely sure. I do know that in Japan, an apartment is called a mansion, so it might be that sort of discrepency.
