It is a weird voice, and I couldn't stand it the first time I heard her. I actually thought it was a joke, but somehow it grew on me immensely. I'm not saying it will on you as well, but I own two CDs by her now, and I'm considering getting more.
I actually liked Yumi's Sotsugyou Shashin better though, but Haru Yo Koi is a toss-up for me. Ayu's vocals were absolutely gorgeous, as well as the arrangement, but Yumi's original is a classic. Still, I think that considering the fact Ayu performed covers of two of her songs denotes that she highly respects her (since Ayu previously said she doesn't like to perform covers often because she feels it isn't her own). So I think Ayu is probably proud enough to be a runner-up to her. But that's just my opinion
