That's one way to see it, but I kind of took it as Ayu saying that because they had been together for so long, their relationship had become more of like a family kind of love, more so than a deep passion. They are splitting on good terms and will continue to see each other. That says to me that their relationship had become more like that of friends than of lovers. It seems like it may have been like this for a while and they only now decided to officially call it quits.
