I'd also like to point out that stressing the -ing on every word you speak is also highly thought of as akward, snobbish, unflowing and unnecessary. Don't ask me who thinks that, I have my sources.

I'd like to know where you're from and what English dialect you even use. Just because in some other dialects the "-ing" is not stressed and is sometimes pronounced as "-in" does not make the people who speak those dialects uneducated OR childish. Obviously that's just your personal opinion.
