It isn't that illogical. When someone is burnt in flames, it doesn't mean they'll be completely carbononized to ashes. Maybe she became one huge barbecue, somewhat shrinked and deformed but not ashes (plus I don't think bones can be turned to ashes in flames like those). She wasn't cremated.
And what sora mentions maskes sense. The hot smoke can cause tracheobronchial burns leading to suffocation and death in people who suffer accidents with flames and burns. She could have died by that, but I believe she died from having her whole body burnt instead.
