^Yeah, I also think that could be the reason. And maybe avex wants to try new ways of releasing for ayu? Since it worked for others (Hikki, Kumi) why wouldn't it work for ayu, too?
I don't understand what's so bad about a digital single. If it would be a CD release, I'm sure people would be complaining, too...
