Yeah, this is pretty much the reason. I spent the summer in Japan and still maintain many friendships with some of the Japanese people I worked with and who go to school here, and the boys all said that Japanese boys like cute girls and notsomuch the hot ones. For some reason, Japanese girls like hot girls more and imitate them, but the boys don't like that.
