the brand doesn't determine what region it is. the region is determined on where it's sold. most countries don't sell other regions dvd players in the common electronic stores, unless you buy them online. i hacked my player, but you can also buy region free players on yesasia.com (and possibly other places...i don't know of any off the top of my head though~).
