The relevance of the oldest songs

What I mean are, how relevant are the songs off the first album a song for xx.
I was thinking of this since a while, and I have some thoughts.

Let's start with some single songs.

poker face is ayu's debut single. I was looking at the single sales, which were 40,000 ( I think). I'm not sure how good sales were back then, but seeing as the highest position it had was around 20, I'm guessing it was'nt that popular.

Next comes YOU. YOU sold around 100,000 units or so, which shows an increase. I'm guessing this song was one that may have attracted more attention to her.

Now, we move ahead to Depend on You. It shows that Ayu had gained a steady fanbase.

Next, the radio single songs. I'm pretty certain that a song for xx and POWDER SNOW gathered more attention, and maybe they were the reason the album did so well. We all know a song for xx was pretty important for her, but POWDER SNOW... hm. I was reading in masa's site that she had been forced to create happy songs back then. POWDER SNOW is pretty negative, even questioning the negativity issue.

What do you think?
