The traditional Asian notions of color are different from the western ideas, though. The Japanese and Korean equivalents of the Chinese 青 mean a color that falls somewhere between green and blue, and sometimes is used to express only one of them. For example, it is said that the traffic light which signals "Go" is 青, but the same is said of the ocean. There are other words, of course, to express more specifically which color you intend, just as in English we have "sky blue" and "royal blue" and a million others. But traditional colors like 青 still seem to prevail.
