Um... for Japanese music, when I was about 7 years old, my cousins came to America to finish their schooling, (Yoshinori and Mami), and basically they influenced me into liking Japanese music. Yoshinori... generally liked American music, so he didn't help, but Mami brought so many CDs that she owned to America, and her father (my uncle) would tape shows/dramas/anime for her and send her even more CDs and magazines and stuff... and she basically influenced me. But like... during my late Elementary school years, with Tom Punks, I was generally more interested in anime songs than JPop songs. @@ It wasn't really until 6th grade that I became more interested. Especially with Hamasaki Ayumi's I am... and Do As Infinity's DEEP FOREST.
With Korean music, I don't really listen to much now. And I did like Super Junior for a while, and I still like FT Island, but that's basically it. I like K but mostly his Japanese songs. Anyway, I don't really remember how I got into some Korean music. I think it was mainly because I wanted to listen to something that wasn't Japanese.
The same goes for Chinese/Taiwanese music. I wanted to listen to something that was different, so Tom Punks, Mami, and I looked around some site at some random artists and shalalala!
