Be realistic. 42 is a VERY reasonable place in an all-time list, although I do think Hikki ranking #24 is a but overexxagerated. Although Hikki sells more apparently [see Guiness book], that should be no excuse in the first place to rank her this high because I thought this list was not about sales. Second, I think both Hikki and Ayu have a lot of fans so the dedicated fanbase is probably somewhat equal. On the original factor; I seriously think Ayu is more original, because her music has a diversion that I haven't seen being equalled anywhere. Hikki's music is, although good, more of the same.

Other than that, come on: Ayu is NOT the only artist to come out of Japan. Japan has/had so many great and influential artists, you wouldn't believe. Many of these are already listed; like Cornelius and the stunning Pizzicato Five, to name two. I noted that someone said that Ryuichi Sakamoto wasn't listed yet. Maybe he'll be number one. He is probably one of the, if not THE most influential Japanese artists ever. So there.

I think Linzy had a very good point. Don't be narrowminded and go call her a not-fan or faker or whatever, she is actually being realistic here which I appreciate.

Nevertheless, I do think Hikki is a bit over-rated. Pwn.

And like Jose said, because she's ranked #42 doesn't mean she's a bad artist, not at all! #42 out of ALL JAPANESE ARTISTS EVER!!! So there! And last but not least, this list does not influence our fandom. We love her music, whether she's ranked #42, #1, or not even ranked at all.
