I really think her music is for the most part hit or miss. She has songs that I completely adore and songs that are absolutely boring and predictable. There's almost no middle ground for me. @_@ But it's usually her ballads that totally miss and her upbeat songs that hit.
But no, I don't think they "only look for either the good in the song or the bad". I don't think we're looking for a reason that we don't like stay with me, it's just a really generic song.
