It came right down to the wire. The Darkness were in the lead by 889 on Saturday morning, but Gary Jules outsold them on Saturday - by 57,456 to 51,481 - and so The Darkness' exuberant crimbo single has been pipped to the post, by a total of 4,986, by a downbeat cover of an old Tears for Fears song. Who'da thunk it. To give an idea of how much hotter the competition is at Christmas, 'Christmas Time' sold 50,000 more copies last week alone than 'I believe In A Thing Called Love' has sold during its entire 13 weeks on release!

Blue's first eight singles all made the top six, but their cover of Stevie Wonder's song 'Signed Sealed Delivered...' falls short and only makes it to No 11. That's what you get for releasing a non-Crimbo single on the most hotly contested week of the year.

All of the moments that already passed
We'll try to go back and make them last
All of the things we want each other to be
We never will be
And that's wonderful, and that's life
And that's you, baby
This is me, baby
And we are, we are, we are, we are
Free
In our love
We are free in our love...
