I think that would be a pretty silly thing to do. (The invitations part) Part of the appeal of this forum is the fact that it's big and has open membership so any fans can register. If we impose a password/invitation then I think we would lose a lot of potential members.
Some things have been done to the server so we'll hopefully see some changes soon.
